NATIONAL ENERGY REGULATOR OF SOUTH AFRICA (NERSA)
 
The National Energy Regulator (NERSA) is a regulatory authority established as a juristic person in terms of Section 3 of the National Energy Regulator Act, 2004 (Act No. 40 of 2004). NERSA's mandate is to regulate the electricity, piped-gas and petroleum pipeline industries in terms of the Electricity Regulation Act, 2006 (Act No. 4 of 2006), Gas Act, 2001 (Act No. 48 of 2001) and Petroleum Pipelines Act, 2003 (Act No. 60 of 2003). The structure of the Energy Regulator consists of nine members, five of whom are part-time and four are full-time, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Energy Regulator is supported by a secretariat under the direction of the CEO:

BURSARY 2019

 
 
NERSA is offering bursaries to students interested in pursuing career in the energy sector.
 
NERSA desires to offer bursaries to students who wish to study towards for Post-graduate Diploma/Degree. Bursaries awards are for fields of study that are appropriate to NERSA's business including,but not limited to the following:
• Accounting; • Engineering; • Law; • Actuarial Science; and Economics
 
The bursary will cover Registration, Tuition and Prescribed Books.
 
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered): • South African citizen with a valid identity document; • be admitted and in possession of admission letter from a South African University or University of Technology that is established or registered in terms of the laws of the Republic of South Africa; 


• be from the group of previously disadvantaged South Africans; • have excellent academic record and demonstrate a potential for academic success; • Proven financial need: Approved bursary amount will be determined by financial means test within the maximum or minimum amount assistance figures. • Disclose in writing to NERSA the particulars of any other bursary, grant or financial assistance he or she is or will be receiving in respect of his or her studies.



HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation:
• Motivational letter; • ID (certified copy); • University acceptance letter • Full academic record at tertiary institution (certified copy) and • Proof of income.
 
The submission of these documents is compulsory- if any items are missing, your application shall be disregarded.
