NATIONAL ENERGY REGULATOR (NERSA)
The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) is a regulatory authority established as a juristic person in terms of section 3 of the National Energy Regulator Act, 2004 (Act No. 40 of 2004). NERSA’s mandate is to regulate the electricity, piped-gas and petroleum pipeline industries in terms of the Electricity Regulation Act, 2006 (Act No. 4 of 2006), Gas Act, 2001 (Act No. 48 of 2001) and Petroleum Pipelines Act, 2003 (Act No. 60 of 2003). The structure of the Energy Regulator consists of nine members, five of whom are part time and four are full time, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Energy Regulator is supported by a secretariat under the direction of the CEO.

EXECUTIVE MANAGER: CORPORATE SERVICES

Purpose: * Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the incumbent will provide leadership and management of the Corporate Services (COS) Division in executing its mandate through the provision of support to the Energy Regulator and NERSA Departments and Units in areas of Information Resource Management; Communication and Stakeholder Management (internal and external); Legal Advisory Services and International Coordination & Partnerships.
Furthermore, the incumbent must ensure the execution of annual performance plan projects; risks; and any allocated ad-hoc projects/activities within the Division.

Key responsibilities: The successful incumbent will be: * Develop regulatory guidelines for the introduction of the local (distributor) integrated resources planning methodologies in the distribution sector to ensure achievement of NERSA and Government Objectives in the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) * Provide technical assistance on development of regulatory policies; Grid Codes, standards, procedures and guidelines for efficient development and operation of the ESI * Evaluate Transmission and Distribution expansion plans against Grid Codes, standards and other regulatory requirements * Monitor and report on the Grid Code compliance status of licensed entities * Assist in the formulation of licence conditions for distribution services providers to ensure adherence to NERSA regulations and codes * Evaluate existing distribution tariff methodologies and structures to ensure that regulatory objectives are achieved * Assist with evaluation of Cost of Service studies and Revenue applications (Eskom and other Distributors) * Provide support to internal and external stakeholders on all issues pertaining to the Electricity Distribution services to ensure that the objectives of the Electricity Regulations Act and other Regulatory Standards and Codes are met.
