NATIONAL CREDIT REGULATOR (NCR)
The National Credit Regulator (NCR) was established as the regulator under the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 (the Act) and is responsible for the regulation of the South African credit industry. It is tasked with carrying out education, research, policy development, registration of industry participants, i.e. credit providers, credit bureaux, alternative dispute resolution agents, payment distribution agents and debt counsellors, investigation of complaints, and enforcement of the Act.
The Act requires the NCR to promote the development of an accessible credit market, particularly to address the needs of historically disadvantaged persons, low income persons, and remote, isolated or low density communities.
The NCR invites applications from suitable candidates for the following position:
MANAGER: INVESTIGATIONS AND ENFORCEMENT
Paterson Grade: D-Upper
Salary ranges from R 646 500 – R 1 228 400 maximum
Requirements:
The successful candidate must hold a relevant legal qualification with a minimum of 7 years working experience, some of which must have been in a management or supervisory role within a similar environment.
Duties:
The incumbent will be responsible for the following:
Overseeing of the investigation and inspection functions;
Overseeing presentation of cases to the National Consumer Tribunal (“The Tribunal”) and the Courts; and represent the NCR in Tribunal proceedings;
Overseeing overall the enforcement of the National Credit Act;
Departmental Management: resources including human personnel, budget;
Draft and monitor the implementation of the Department Business Plan;
Budget management;
Draft and review of policies;
Risk Management;
Procure necessary services in line with PFMA and SCM policies;
Manage the contracts with appointed service providers.
