NATIONAL CREDIT REGULATOR (NCR)
The National Credit Regulator (NCR) was established as the regulator under the National Credit Act 34, of 2005 (the Act) and is responsible for the regulation of the South African credit industry.
It is tasked with carrying out education, research, policy development, registration of industry participants (i.e. credit providers, credit bureau and debt counsellors), investigation of complaints, and enforcement of the Act. The Act requires the NCR to promote the development of an accessible credit market, particularly to address the needs of historically disadvantaged persons, low income persons, and remote, isolated or low density communities.
The NCR invites applications from suitable candidates for the following position.
Position: Junior Legal Advisor: Investigations and Enforcement X2
Paterson Grade: C-Lower
Salary ranges from R159 100 – R302 300 maximum
Requirements:
The suitable candidate must hold an LLB Degree or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 3 years’ post-graduation working experience.
Admission as an Attorney or Advocate as well as credit industry experience will be an added advantage.
Duties:
Drafting of pleadings and legal opinions.
Assessing investigation reports and advising on enforcement action.
Preparing and presenting cases at tribunals and/or courts.
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of the National Credit Act, and civil court procedures.
Understanding of the South African Consumer Credit Market.
Ability to make decisions, give direction and take accountability.
Leadership skills.
Excellent writing ability.
Evaluative and problem solving skills.
