NATIONAL CREDIT REGULATOR (NCR)
The National Credit Regulator (NCR) was established as the regulator under the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 (the Act) and is responsible for the regulation of the South African credit industry. It is tasked with carrying out education, research, policy development, registration of industry participants, i.e. credit providers, credit bureaux, alternative dispute resolution agents, payment distribution agents and debt counsellors, investigation of complaints, and enforcement of the Act.
The Act requires the NCR to promote the development of an accessible credit market, particularly to address the needs of historically disadvantaged persons, low income persons, and remote, isolated or low density communities. The NCR invites applications from suitable candidates for the following position:
AUDIT AND RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEMBER
Requirements:
A relevant Postgraduate qualification in Law with five (5) years executive experience of which three (3) years is as a Board Member gained from the Consumer Credit Granting/Compliance environment.
Preference will be given to candidates who are Legal Managers with sufficient knowledge experience and/or qualifications in governance frameworks, decision structures, governance processes, reporting structures, policies and standards, compliance, risk mitigation and internal controls.
In addition to the above, candidates should demonstrate proven experience in participating in governance structures as well as the ability to dedicate time to the activities of the NCR Audit Committee.

Understanding of PFMA and its Regulations,
National Treasury and practice notes relevant to section 3(a) entities.

Responsibilities:
The Audit Committee is an advisory committee that assists the NCR in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities with regard to internal controls, risk management and governance.
The committee will be responsible for assisting the CEO who is the Accounting Authority in the effective execution of her/his responsibilities as well as regulate and discharge all its responsibilities as contained in the Audit Committee charter. The Audit Committee will meet at least four times per year.
