INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR: RESEARCH EDITORS (X5)

The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking to appoint experienced and suitably qualified South African citizens to fill the position of an Independent Contractor – Research Editor (X5). The contractors will help ensure that all MKI published work/research/articles are of international standard and adhere to the highest editorial ethics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in Language Practice, Journalism, Information, Economic Development or any related fields. Anyone with other research degrees with training in development or scientific research will be considered. (Ph.D. degree will be an advantage).
CORE COMPENTENCIES
At least five years’ overall experience in research-writing, editing, or publishing programs. Demonstrated experience in editing research or publication with references from traceable institutions. Has worked in a higher learning environment or published research. International experience will be an added advantage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will (1) edit all MKI research projects, commentaries and articles submitted for the Moses Kotane Institute Journal (MKIJ); (2) The editor will also form part of the editorial team responsible for all things Journal; (3) Ensure that the submitted content is free from sexist, racial and ethnical inappropriateness; (4) Proof reading and designing layout reports according to prescribed MKI format; and (5) Apply uniform referencing style throughout the articles/reports.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
The incumbent to the above position will be offered a (12)-month Independent Contractor appointment with remuneration at R368 p/h.

INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR: AUDITORS (x10)
REF No: IC/AU – 01/11/2022
The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking to appoint experienced and suitably qualified South African Citizens to be appointed as Independent Contractor – Auditors. The appointed individuals will participate in a massive project related to the National Development Plan 2030, as implemented through the MTSF 2019-2024, including conducting research, data analysis and overall research project coordination.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
NQF level 7 qualification in Auditing/Accounting/Finance/BCom Information Systems. Qualification above NQF above level 7 will be an advantage.
CORE COMPENTENCIES
At least three years’ functional experience in auditing and financial statements. Demonstrable experience working with internal and external stakeholders. Proficient user of MS Excel and auditing software. Knowledge of IIA standard for the professional practice if Internal Auditors. Good time and project management skills, and willing to work long hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Generating context-specific and strong provincial diagnostic report of the current situation and give room for real progress made towards achieving NDP priorities through the MTSF 2019-2024. Evaluating financial information versus performance over the last 2.5 years. Creating a summary and categorising the reports received from government departments and public entities. Analyse how effective governance is for overseeing and ensuring clean administration. Assisting with auditing of different governments departments and public institutions.
