BUSINESS UNIT: ECONOMICS AND STATISTICAL SERVICES
POST TITTLE: EXPERIENTIAL LEARNER:
ECONOMETRICIAN X1
STIPEND: 16 000.00 per Month (24 Months Only)
CENTRE: La Mercy/Westville

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The suitable candidate must have a Master’s degree in Economics/Econometrics. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an Economic Modelling environment. Experience in developing, maintaining, and applying economic models to analyze the domestic and global economies. Conducting economic impact assessments, economic modelling, and forecasting. Good knowledge of econometrics, economic policies, and strategies. Knowledge of applicable legislation. Ability to manage complex data and produce meaningful insights. Experience of working in the public sector or within a public sector set-up will be an advantage. A Valid driver’s licence. A PhD and CGE Modelling competence would be an added advantage.

• Computer literacy (E-Views/STATA, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Excellent co-ordination and project management skills
• Good presentation skills.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor economic literature for new types of modelling techniques and improve the current economic models.
• Develop and maintain economic models to analyze the domestic and global economies.
• Provide economic forecasts and scenarios. Conduct sensitivity analyses.
• Conduct rigorous analytical research to support the execution of the MKI’s policy mandate.
• Support on-the-job training for junior team members and monitor the implementation of assigned work.
• Conduct economic modelling and forecasting, as well as economic impact assessments.
• Use econometric models to inform decision-making.
