​DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT

ELECTRICIAN (2 Posts)
(2 years fixed term contract)
 
Duties:
Report directly to the Divisional Manager: Building, the incumbent will perform the following duties: 
● Perform installation, maintenance and repair tasks by making new electrical connection and maintaining existing infrastructure ● Carry out diagnostic tests and repairs, using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment's ● Conduct routine inspections for all electrical repairs ● Responding promptly to service calls and emergency repairs needed ● Upgrading electrical components for enhanced safety and efficiency ● Install systems and components such as circuit breaker panels, switches and lighting fixtures ●Inspect electrical components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment for repairs ● Ensure compliance with SHE policies and occupational health and safety regulation ● Ensure compliance with local or national electrical codes and regulations.
 
Requirements:
  • N3 Electrical Engineering certificate plus wireman's' license
  • Trade test certificate
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • 3 years' experience.
 
Salary: R 437 337, 00 – R 482 898, 00 per annum
 
 
 
 
 
AIR CONDITIONING & REFRIGIRATOR TECHNICIAN
(2 years fixed term contract)
 
Duties:
Report directly to the Divisional Manager: Building, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
● Receive, interpret, prioritize requests for repairs, analyze and evaluate the nature and complexity of the problem reported Perform risk assessments (cost effect on business on safety etc) ● order spares needed ● Repair equipment's and follow up on repairs done ● Perform daily inspection on all hvac related equipment's ● Develop maintenance plan on area of responsibility, execute the plan and compile reports ● Develop inspection sheets, conduct inspections at required interval on all hvac related equipment's and keep record ● Monitor and repair hvac equipment i.e. heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems including fans, air cleaners, filters, pumps, evaporation and cooling water etc ● Ensure compliance with SHE policies and occupational health and safety regulation ● Assist with installation of new systems ● Identify and new improvements.
 
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 plus a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • N3 with completed apprenticeship as an air conditioning technician
  • A relevant hvav Trade test certificate
  • A relevant Competency certificate
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • 4 years relevant experience
 
Salary: R 507 441, 00 – R 546 621, 00 per annum
 
 
 
 
 
PLUMBER

(2 years fixed term contract)
 
Duties
Reporting directly to the Divisional Manager: Building, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
● Installation and repair of pipes and fixtures that carry water / gas and other fluids in the building ● Repairing water/sewage breakages, valves and fire hydrants ● Maintenance of plumbing fixtures within the municipal building (showers, bath tubs, ablutions, basins, and heating systems) ● Testing and repairing all water meters ● Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems ● identifying and diagnosing plumbing problems using appropriate tools and techniques ● Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety regulations ● Keep accurate record of time spent working, description of work performed and materials used ● Adhere to all plumbing building codes and regulations ● Prepare material stock lists and cost estimates
 
Requirements:
  • N3 certificate in Plumbing plus Trade Test certificate. Be in the possession of a code 8 or 10 driver's license.
  • 2 - 3 years' experience in similar environment or position.

BUILDER (ROOFING ARTISAN) 2 posts
(2 years fixed term contract)
 
Duties:
Report directly to the Divisional Manager: Building, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
● Measuring and cutting roofing materials to fit dimensions Installing roof structures such as roof trusses, structures and beams ● Laying and securing roofing/thatch materials such as tiles, metal sheets etc ● Inspecting roofs for leaks, damages and structural weaknesses ● Replacing damaged roofing materials and ceiling leaks ● Understanding blue prints and construction drawings ● Following technical specifications from architects and engineers● Reinforcing roof structures to ensure longevity and stability ● Applying waterproof coatings, sealants and membrane ● Installing insulation to enhance energy efficiency ● Ensure proper drainage system such as gutters and downpipes ● Operating hand and power tools ● handling leathers scaffolding and safety harness ● Ensure adherence to building codes. Safety regulations and industry standards.
 
Requirements:
  • N3 in Building / Engineering Studies plus Trade test in Building
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • 2-3 years relevant experience

BUILDER (BUILDING /STRUCTURAL ARTISAN)
2 posts (2 years fixed term contract)
 
Duties:
Report directly to the Divisional Manager: Building, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
● Building, repairing and maintaining structure (municipal building and infrastructure) Laying bricks, Blocks or stones for walls and other masonry work ● Installing and repairing roofs, floors and ceilings ● Performing plastering, tiling and painting works ● Adhere to building codes and regulatory standards ● Translating designs instructions into a practical construction work ● Understanding blue prints, technical drawing and specifications ● Coordinating supplies for materials ● Conduct regular building inspections to ensure compliance ●Ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
 
Requirements:
  • N3 in Building / Engineering Studies plus Trade test in Building
  • Possession of a valid drivers' license
  • 2-3 years relevant experience
 
Salary: R 386 247, 00 – R 426 624, 00 per annum
 
 
 
 
 
WELDER
(2 years fixed term contract)
 
Duties:
Report directly to the Maintenance Foreman, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
● Inspect structures and materials before welding ● Assess the quality of welds and identify flaws ● Setting up components for welding according to specification ● Determine the appropriate welding equipment's and methods based on requirements ● Welds and assembles metal pieces and products by using hand held welding equipment's ● Set up parts for welding ● Adhere to safety standards and regulations.
 
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 plus a certificate in Boiler making / Welding plus Trade test in Boiler making/Welding
  • 2 – 3 years relevant experience
 
Salary: R 272 040, 00 – R 309 513, 00 per annum
 
 
 
 
 
 
GLAZER
(2 years fixed term contract)
 
Duties:
Report directly to the Maintenance Foreman, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
● Taking measurements and cutting glass to specified dimensions ● Installing glass in windows, doors and other structures ● Replacing broken and damaged glasses ● Sealing glass edges with putty, rubber or other materials ● Ensure proper fittings and sealing to prevent leaks or drafts ● Adhere to all safety standards and building codes
 
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 plus Glazing installation certificate plus trade test in glazing
  • 2 – 3 years relevant experience
 
Salary: R 272 040, 00 – R 309 513, 00 per annum
