SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR FINANCE
Paterson Grade: C1
Remuneration: R428, 005.39 CTC (plus a possible 20% performance bonus)
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) operating under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). It is mandated by the Skills Development Act (SDA) 97 of 1998 to drive skills development within the mining and minerals sector (MMS). Its scope covers a diverse range of sub-sectors, including Coal Mining, Gold Mining, Platinum Group Metals (PGM) Mining, Diamond Mining, Other Mining, Cement, Lime, Aggregates, and Sand (CLAS), as well as Services Incidental Mining (SITM), Diamond Processing, and Jewellery Manufacturing.
The MQA requires the services of a competent individual to fill the below-mentioned position.
Role Purpose:
The successful candidate will provide financial, administrative, and clerical services to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial and administrative operations.
Key Performance Areas
Document Compliance & Verification: Review all authorised documents (purchase orders, invoices, and contracts) to ensure compliance with PFMA, Procurement Policy, Delegation of Authority, and internal financial policies and procedures.
Expenditure, Creditors and Payments: Maintain the full creditors process, including capturing invoices, posting transactions, and handling accruals. Review aged balances and monitor outstanding payments. Prepare, validate, and obtain approval for payment requisitions; schedule and process payment batches; interface with banking systems; and issue remittances. Maintain accurate creditor records, resolve queries, and ensure timely, accurate transaction processing.
Bank Reconciliation: Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Fixed Assets Management: Maintain and update the fixed assets register, process acquisitions and disposals, perform monthly depreciation, conduct asset verifications, and reconcile the register to the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Petty Cash Administration: Manage petty cash by reviewing requests, processing reimbursements, validating supporting documents, recording transactions, and performing monthly reconciliations to ensure accuracy and proper control.
Stationery and Consumables Inventory Control: Maintain adequate stock levels, issue items against authorised requests, update inventory records, and conduct regular stock counts with reconciliations to ensure accuracy and prevent variances.
Finance Administration & Support: Provide comprehensive finance administration support through effective audit assistance, secure financial document management, office and administrative coordination, and training of interns and staff. Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent handling of financial queries and uphold quality standards through ongoing process reviews and control checks.
Other Duties: Perform additional finance-related responsibilities as delegated by the supervisor or line manager.
Key requirements: qualifications, experience, and competencies
Qualifications:
- Minimum National Diploma in Finance or NQF Level 6 equivalent in a Finance field.
- A Degree [NQF Level 7] in a Finance related field will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- A minimum of three years’ financial administration experience.
- Experience in Financial Consulting and Auditing will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrable proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, MS Projects, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience using accounting software, with a sound understanding of the functionality and integration of its various modules.
Competencies: Knowledge • Sound knowledge of Accounting Principles. • Understanding of Great Plains Accounting Software will be an added advantage. • Understanding of the PFMA, skills development legislations and relevant accounting standards will be an added advantage.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: IT INTERN
Duration: Two-Year Programme
Monthly Stipend: R 9, 306.18

The MQA is mandated by the Skills Development Act (SDA) 97 of 1998 to drive skills development within the mining and minerals sector (MMS). Its scope covers a diverse range of sub-sectors, including Coal Mining, Gold Mining, Platinum Group Metals (PGM) Mining, Diamond Mining, other mining commodities, Cement, Lime, Aggregates, and Sand, as well as services related to the mining industry, Diamond Processing, and Jewellery Manufacturing.
The MQA would like to invite qualifying individuals to apply for an internship opportunity within its Information Technology Unit. Unemployed individuals who have never participated in an internship programme are invited to apply. The successful intern will be appointed for a period of twenty-four (24) months. This opportunity is available to South African Citizens only.
Reporting to the Senior Manager: Information Technology, the successful candidate will be expected to actively participate and gain exposure in the following areas:
Job profile:
The candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
- Assist with the maintenance of the IT infrastructure in a Microsoft Windows environment in terms of capacity, security and network administration;
- Assist with cloud, Microsoft SQL database administration and maintenance for various information systems;
- Provide 1st line end-user support for all IT related enquiries (i.e. complete setup of new workstations (laptops, etc.), windows applications, email, anti-virus software, password reset, application systems troubleshooting) through the ICT Service Desk;
- Assist with network and printer troubleshooting;
- Assist with IT security administration (i.e. backup & recovery, firewall, antivirus, vulnerability solution, etc.);
- Provide remote assistance to end-users at regional offices;
- Perform software installation and user training; and
- Provide general office administrative support.
- Assist with the business analysis and project coordination of the current IMIS/ERP Project
Minimum Requirements:
- A Grade 12 or matric certificate;
- National Diploma or equivalent at a NQF 6 level in the Information Technology field;
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification in abovementioned field will be an added advantage.

- An understanding of legislation and developments pertaining to education and training;
