MINE HEALTH AND SAFETY COUNCIL (MHSC)
NOTICE AND INVITATION TO SERVE ON THE AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE OF MINE HEALTH AND SAFETY COUNCIL (MHSC)

The Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) was established in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) to advise the Minister of Minerals and Energy on health and safety at mines, on research programmes and the review of regulations pertaining to mine health and safety.
The MHSC is listed as a Public Entity (Schedule 3A) according to the PFMA, and in terms of government funding received for administrative purposes, as legislated by the Mine Health and Safety Act.
The MHSC hereby invites applications from suitable qualified persons wishing to serve on its Audit Committee as registered in Section 51 of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Act 1 of 1999 as amended by Act 29 of 1999 and section 3 of the Treasury Regulations issued in terms of the PFMA.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of the Public service and Public entities will be a strong recommendation;
- A Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a member of an Audit Committee in the public sector and / or public entity;
- A post graduate qualification as well as CA(SA)
- Demonstrable extensive knowledge of PFMA, National Treasury Regulations and GRAP;
- Experience working and reporting to Board;
- Proof of being in executive management at least 5 years; and
- Membership with SAICA Mandatory
Remuneration
Audit Committee members will be remunerated in accordance with the rates determined by the National Treasury from time to time, and not the AGSA rate. Travelling on official duty will be reimbursed at rates determined by Department of Transport.
Term of Office
The term of office will be three (3) years
Selection Procedure
Short-listed candidates will be invited for interviews to be conducted by a panel appointed by the Council. The final appointments will be made by the Council based on the recommendation of the interview panel.
