Job Description
A Vacancy exists for a seasoned professional to fulfil the position of Senior Maintenance Manager in the Central Maintenance Section of the Operations Department based at our Head Office in Alton, Richards Bay.
The Senior Maintenance Manager will provide high-level support to the organisation in terms of planning and managing the activities of the Maintenance unit to ensure uninterrupted plant and equipment availability, reliability and maintainability at all installations.
 
 
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement planned maintenance and continuous improvement systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations with regards to mechanical equipment and carry the accountabilities as per Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS), legal appointment.
  • Manage Maintenance operations in line with OHS Act and its Regulations
  • Manage the execution of Maintenance Activities through the implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance
  • Manage and monitor the Key Performance indicators of the Maintenance Section through Maximo
  • Plan and schedule activities within the section to ensure optimum efficiency of all plant and equipment.
  • Manage, organise, lead and control all resources within the unit.
  • Prepare and control budget for the unit.
  • Maintain a safe and environmentally compliant working environment.
  • Identify problems in technical, management and HR aspects, provide advice on remedial action and assist in the implementation through proper training interventions.
  • Manage the implementation of the Operational Plan for the section and ensure targets are met.
 
 
Requirements
  • BSc/BEng degree (NQF Level 7) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering OR a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • A Government Certificate of Competence (GCC) is essential.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the
    management of maintenance related to water and waste water infrastructure OR
  • Applicants with a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) must have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in the management of maintenance related to water and waste water infrastructure
  • Sound knowledge of reliability centred maintenance and thorough knowledge of the OHS Act, and other
    applicable legislation.
  • Problem solving and results-driven. Proven management skills and ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, at all levels. Must be able to manage a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Computer literacy in MSOffice, Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines; as well as be able and willing to work after hours and be on standby as and when required.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.

The Incumbent will be required to live within the Richards Bay/Empangeni area; be willing to travel in our area of operations, and be available after hours as and when necessary.
