Job Description
An exciting opportunity exists for an energetic and competent individual to fulfil the role of Junior IT Technician in the IT Section of the Corporate Services Department. Reporting to the IT Support Technician, the incumbent will be required to provide first line technical support and maintenance within the organisation’s server and desktop computing environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and support IT desktop environment to ensure maximum user access.
- Troubleshoot problem areas and attend to the calls logged by users within pre-determined
turnaround times - Assist the IT Support Technician to administer the systems and servers
- Provide IT infrastructure support including but not limited to Local Area Networks, IT Hardware,
Security, and desktop support - Provide back office applications support
- Provide individual IT systems training and support.
- Ensure the security and back-up of data on a daily basis.
- Perform IT Asset Verification
- Provide assistance to the IT Support Technician in handling all support queries and reporting.
Requirements
- Matric and a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in information Technology or equivalent, relevant
qualification. - A Minimum of two years’ experience rendering IT desktop and network support to users.
- Good trouble shooting skills, understanding of Windows Server 2012 as well as maintenance in
wireless technology is advantageous - Understanding of Microsoft Back Office Applications such as Windows 7, 8 and 10. Exchange
2010/2013, SQL 2008/2012 R2. HyperV, VMWare, SAN Support, NetApp an advantage - A valid Code B driver’s licence.
- Attentive to detail and quality orientated, good analytical problem solving, interpersonal skills,
customer focus, initiative and drive to go the extra mile, teamwork, co-operation and
communication skills.
The Incumbent will be required to live within the Richards Bay/Empangeni area; be willing to travel in our area of operations, and be available after hours as and when necessary.
