LEARNERSHIP: TRAFFIC TRAINEES (36 POSITIONS) 
 
Matjhabeng Municipality is looking for youth from various communities with appropriate qualifications to enter into the training towards acquiring a certificate in Road Traffic and Law Enforcement (NQF Level 4). This forms part of the Municipality’s commitment in addressing the high levels of unemployment in our youth, as well as providing the necessary opportunities for skills enhancement. The Municipality invites suitably qualified and unemployed youth aged 18 – 35, who meet the relevant minimum requirements for a learnership in Road Traffic Law Enforcement. The training will be provided by Matjhabeng Traffic Training Academy and the duration will be over a period of 12 months. 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
  • South Africans who are in possession of the Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate 
  • Valid Driver’s License 
  • SAPS Clearance results with no criminal record 
  • Medical Examination proof 
  • Applicants must permanently reside within the jurisdiction of Matjhabeng Local Municipality 
 
Candidates will: 
  • Be required to pass a written assessment and an interview 
  • Be required to pass a physical assessment 
  • Be required to submit their SAPS Clearance results. No other criminal clearances will be acceptable 
  • Be required to maintain levels of fitness and undergo ongoing fitness assessments 
  • Candidates will be subject to the code of Conduct of the Matjhabeng Traffic Traning, as well as the pass requirements stipulated by the Academy and in line with relevant unit standards 
 
Special conditions attached to the post: 
  • The Municipality is not obligated to offer a permanent position after completion of the training; candidates will be required to undergo extensive physical training, whilst at the Academy and training in accordance with the Firearm and Ammunitions Act. 
  • Successful candidates will be required to wear a uniform, work shifts and in all weather conditions.
  • Only candidates residing in Matjhabeng will be accommodated. Proof of residential address and verification of residence will be conducted before any appointment.

POSITION: SENIOR MANAGER PROJECTS: INTERGRATED MUNICIPAL INFRASTRUCTURE 
SALARY: R 773 052.00 p.a. (Excluding Benefits) 
POST LEVEL: 2 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred). 
  • Pr Eng (Engineering Council of South Africa) / Pr CPM (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions). 
  • Proven experience in managing infrastructure projects within a municipal or public sector environment. 
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in roads, water, sanitation, wastewater, and construction management. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a team. 
  • Excellent communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities. 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 
As the Senior Manager Projects, you will have a critical role in shaping the future of our community through integrated municipal infrastructure development. Your responsibilities will include: 
  • Strategic Planning: Develop a comprehensive infrastructure development strategy, aligning it with the municipality's long-term vision and goals. Identify priority areas, allocate resources effectively, and oversee the execution of projects across multiple disciplines.
  • Team Leadership: Manage a team of project engineers and professionals responsible for roads, water, sanitation, wastewater, and construction management. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure successful project delivery and professional growth. 
  • Project Portfolio Management: Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from planning and design to execution and completion, for various infrastructure projects. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of local, regional, and national regulations pertaining to infrastructure development. Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, and construction codes across all projects, promoting sustainable and inclusive practices. 
  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Develop and manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and optimize resource allocation across the project portfolio. Identify funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to support infrastructure initiatives. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with municipal officials, government agencies, contractors, and community members. Communicate project updates, address concerns, and actively engage stakeholders in the decision-making process.
