DEPARTMENT OF RISK AND COMPLIANCE 
DIRECTOR: AUDIT & RISK (P5) – Ref: VC05 
FIVE YEAR PERFORMANCE-BASED FIXED TERM CONTRACT 
The main purpose of this role is to champion and lead all risk management, audit and compliance activities of the university ensuring that governance principles are always upheld. 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Lead the risk management strategy for the university. 
• Champion all risk management initiatives and processes. 
• Facilitate the internal audit management activities. 
• Forecasting, Budgeting and Financial Management. 
• People management. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
• BCom Honours in Accounting or Risk Management or Auditing or equivalent relevant NQF8 qualification. 
• Five (5) years’ management experience in internal auditing and/or risk management. 
 
Competencies:
• Registered with a professional body for auditors. 
• Completed professional body recognised articles advantageous. 
• Knowledge of King Reports on corporate governance 
• Ethical conduct. 
• General management skills (including knowledge of applicable policies and procedures). 
• Risk management and auditing. 
• Knowledge of relevant legislation. 
• Knowledge of Department of Higher Education and Training’s (DHET) regulations and other relevant regulations applicable to higher education institutions. 
• Experience in compliance management. 
• Understanding of organisational culture and leadership dynamics. 
• Project management skills. 
• Change management skills. 
• Practical knowledge of MS Office applications 
 
Salary Scale: R923 851.00 – R1 269 667.00 (P5) basic salary per annum.

DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLOR: RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND ENGAGEMENT (P2)
FIVE (5) YEAR FIXED TERM PERFORMANCE BASED CONTRACT
 
The DVC (RIE) will report directly to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal. He or she will provide strategic leadership and direction in research, innovation, technology transfer, partnerships, international linkages, engagement including community engagement, as well as other appropriate functions as may be assigned to this executive portfolio, in pursuance of the vision and mission of MUT. The DVC (RIE) will actively support the Vice-Chancellor and Principal in the leadership and management of the University.
 
Key Performance Areas:
• Strategic leadership in research, technology development, innovation and engagements.
• Commercialisation of innovations and research.
• Engagement with key local, national, regional and international structures and authorities in areas of research, technology and innovation.
• Policy formulation, review and implementation in respect of research, innovation and technology transfer.
• Strategic management of human and financial resources and other assets in the assigned directorates and units.
 
Minimum Requirements:
• PhD qualification.
• Strategic leadership in research, technology development, innovation and engagements.
• Commercialisation of innovations and research.
• Engagement with key local, national, regional and international structures and authorities in areas of research, technology and innovation.
• Policy formulation, review and implementation in respect of research, innovation and technology transfer.
• Strategic management of human and financial resources and other assets in the assigned directorates and units.

• Ability to mobilise and inspire others towards shared goals.
• Ability to lead and work in a diverse team.

Remuneration: We offer a negotiable market-related total remuneration package (i.e., inclusive of benefits: 13th cheque, housing subsidy/allowance, pension, medical aid, group life and study grant where applicable).

​DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLOR: RESOURCES AND PLANNING 

– FIVE YEAR PERFORMANCE-BASED FIXED TERM CONTRACT – (P2) REF: VP01
 
The DVC (R&P) reports to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal. She or he will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction in the following portfolios:, Human Resources, Information Technology, Institutional Planning and Research, Operations (Campus Estates, Students Residences and Protection Services amongst other operations), Legal Services, as well as other functions that may be assigned by the Council or Vice-Chancellor, The DVC (R&P) will support the Vice-Chancellor and Principal and Council in achieving on the vision and mission of the University.
 
Key Performance Areas:
• Strategy development and execution.
• Leadership in portfolio related policy development, institutional operations and resource mobilisation.
• Quality assurance, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and risk management.
• Safety, health and environmental management.
• Strategic oversight over the Resources and Planning portfolio.
• Management of internal and external partnerships.
• Strategic oversight of the university’s infrastructure development and maintenance, as well as a vital role in implementing and monitoring all Infrastructure and Efficiency Grants (IEG) and other grants in relation
• Ensuring that the University Student Residences are optimally maintained and provide strategic direction in the development or acquisition of new student residences, including rental from outsourced suppliers.
 
Minimum Requirements:
• A Doctoral Degree with the undergraduate qualification in Operations Management/Built Environment/Engineering.
• At least ten years’ experience in a senior management role in a university or similar position.
• Must have proven track record of managing the majority of the key areas in the portfolio, with no less than 3 years’ direct related experience in these areas.
• Proven track record in strategic planning and implementation.
• Must have demonstrable experience in the mobilization and management of resources.
• Must have a demonstrable track record in project management.
 
Competencies:
• Sound knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to higher education.
• Working knowledge of regulations and rules applicable to the various functions in the portfolio.
• Excellent policy development skills.
• Excellent writing skills for the preparation of reports and policies.
• Demonstrated skill in respectful, sensitive communication with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, language, gender, and abilities.
• Ability to mobilise and inspire others towards shared goals.
• Ability to lead and work in a diverse team of academics and non-academics.
• Understanding of the operations and affairs of a university environment.
• Understanding of institutional cultural transformation and organizational alignment.
