CO-OPERATIVE EDUCATION DIRECTORATE

FIVE (5) YEAR FIXED TERM PERFORMANCE BASED CONTRACT 
READVERTISEMENT
The main purpose of this role is the operational management of Cooperative Education Directorate at the University, concentrating in supporting the objectives of National Skills Development Strategy and support the leadership of the University in the realization of the strategic objectives relating to Work Integrated Learning. 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Strategic planning and operational management of the Cooperative Education Directorate within the university. 
• Market Cooperative Education. 
• Coordinate Cooperative Education. 
• Uphold HEQC and NQF requirements for Cooperative Education. 
• Provide administrative support. 
• Facilitate usage of the ITS system. 
• Establish general policy for Cooperative Education. 
• Conduct needs analysis. 
• Develop budget for all WIL programmes. 
• Management of staff within the Cooperative Education Directorate. 
• Coordination of Cooperative Education and Service Learning. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
• A relevant Master’s degree or equivalent (e.g B.Eng/B.Tech/BSc with professional registration). 
• At least five (5) years managerial experience in the operational management of Cooperative Education, with at least three years in a supervisory or management capacity. 
• Track record of established contacts in industry. 
• Experience in management of professional accreditation processes. 
 
Recommendations
• Knowledge of quality assurance and promotion. 
• Lecturing experience within higher education. 
• Strategic planning and implementation exposure. 
• Knowledge of ITS will be an added advantage.

The Director: Quality Management Directorate reports directly to the Deputy Vice Chancellor: Teaching and Learning. She / He is responsible for providing strategic leadership for a quality management platform that supports the coordination, planning and management of resources pertaining to quality management to facilitate the achievement of the University’s mandate and strategic goals. 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Provide strategic leadership to MUT’s quality assurance responsibilities. 
• Manage, facilitate, and apply quality processes and systems throughout the institution. 
• Provide leadership to the development and amendment of academic programmes. 
• Provide strategic leadership and support to the institutional audit and review processes. 
• Manage and ensure compliance with external quality assurance requirements. 
• Provide leadership to faculties in implementing improvement plans and forging common institutional understanding of quality and related processes. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
• A Doctoral degree preferably with educational specialization. 
• Seven years teaching experience in a HE environment. 
• Three years management experience at a level of HOD 
• Experience in and knowledge of quality assurance in HE. 
• Experience in and knowledge of curriculum development and assessment.

FACULTY OF APPLIED AND HEALTH SCIENCES
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
(Investigating higher dimensional relativistic fluids in modified gravity theories)
One-Year Fixed Contract
 
The Faculty of Applied and Health Sciences, through the Research Directorate of Mangosuthu University of Technology is pleased to announce a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship for 2025/2026 on: “Investigating higher dimensional relativistic fluids in modified gravity theories”.
 
In this project we aim to generate new exact solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell equations in higher dimensions and investigate the dynamical behavior of the gravitating fluids. We furthermore intend to investigate the effects of higher dimensions in modified gravity theories. 
We study the consequence of higher dimensions on some physical phenomena such as studying the structure and mass of the stars.
 
Key Performance Areas:
• Publish manuscripts in reputable (DHET-accredited) journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
• Assist colleagues pursuing their postgraduate research and/or collaborating with other research fellows.
• Assist in overall management and contribution to various activities of the research project.
• To prepare and publish manuscripts of high quality in DHET journals.
• Ability to co-supervise relevant postgraduate research and/or collaborating with other postdoctoral fellows.
• Assisting in overall management and contribute to the various activities of the Research projects.
• Initiating, developing and/or being involved in research networks, collaborations, institutional partnerships, and the organization of research events.
 
Minimum Requirements:
• A PhD in Applied Mathematics (specializing in General Relativity/Mathematical Modelling/Differential Equations and Applications or any other related field) obtained in not more than past five years.
• Published at least two DHET-accredited journal articles in the above-stated specialist areas in the last 24 months.
• South African citizens and permanent residents will have priority, but the call is open to international scholars.
• International Postdoctoral Research Fellows must have a long-term visitor’s visa endorsed for academic activities affiliated with MUT (Section 11(1)(b) Visitors Visa).
• Should not reside outside South Africa during this fellowship.
• Should not hold full-time permanent academic or professional employment during this fellowship.
 
Competencies:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
 
Stipend: R300 000.00 per annum (tax-exempt)

The Teaching and Learning Development Unit (TLDC) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the role of Administrative Assistant to provide dedicated support to the Peer Assistance Programme and other student support initiatives. 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
  • Administer daily operations of the Peer Assistance Programme. 
  • Coordinate tutoring schedules, venues, attendance, and communications. 
  • Manage records of peer assistants and student participants. 
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and logistics of peer assistants. 
  • Liaise with departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth program delivery. 
  • Demonstrable experience in setting up training, seminars, conferences, and workshops needed to support the planning and implementation of successful events. 
  • Compile reports, meeting minutes, and assist with event planning at the centre. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good at establishing and maintaining relationships with existing and potential partners. 
  • Effective time-management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task within a highly pressurized environment. 
  • Perform general administrative tasks as required. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
  • Enrolled or completed an Advanced Diploma (proof of registration must be attached). 
  • One to two (1–2) years of relevant administrative experience. 
  • Prior experience in student support in higher education environment. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel). 
 
Recommendation
  • NQF 8 Postgraduate qualification will be an advantage (proof of registration must be attached).
