Key Performance Areas:
Work with lecturers to understand varying student needs, identify learning outcomes and apply learning design methodology.

You may not be an expert in all the fields of climate change adaptation; however, you must be willing and passionate to develop skills from other related fields
You must have a track record of, and passion for community engagement (CE), as the third main function of universities
Ability to implement and coordinate CE projects
Ability to initiate and manage research projects
Assisting in overall management and contribute to the various activities of CEAD Directorate
Ability to initiate, develop and/or involved in research networks, collaborations (i.e. formulating spin-offs, and joint ventures), institutional partnerships, and the organization of research events

South African citizens and permanent residents will have priority

A solid knowledge of climate change adaption and CSA technologies
A track record and passion for CE
At least 3 published journal papers in the last two years (24 months)

Consolidation of recent research (sponsored by the NRF) on the performance of some bio-waste materials as adsorbents for heavy metal removal.
Conduct batch and column experiments in a competitive solute environment in order to study the effect of interaction between metal ions on adsorption performance.
Using kinetic data from batch studies and breakthrough curves from dynamic column experiments, to develop a competitive model for heavy metal ions adsorption systems.
Apply the developed model to the design of a pilot scale portable water system and to monitor its shelf life via the incorporation of IoT and data analytics.
Publication and presentation of research.
Involvement in initiating research proposals and managing research projects.
Minimum Requirements:
A PhD obtained within the last five years in the field chemical engineering or a closely related field with a publication track record in international scientific journals.
At least 5 published journal papers in the last 36 months.
South African citizens and permanent residents will have priority.
Working knowledge and experience of design of experiments, artificial neural networks, IoT and process simulation.
Strong technical, analytical and writing skills.
