Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for the undermentioned vacancy
MUNICIPAL MANAGER
(A five (5) years fixed performance-based employment contract, not exceeding a period ending one year after the election of the next municipal council of the municipality)
REMUNERATION:
Total cost to company package: R 1,067 687 Minimum, R 1 227 113 Midpoint, R 1, 386 637 Maximum (Offer of remuneration will be determined in line with the guidelines as set out in Notice No: 351 published in Government Gazette No.43122, 20 March 2020)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A Degree in Public Administration/Political Science/Social Science/Law or equivalent; Minimum of 5 years work-related experience at senior management level; Have proven successful institutional transformation within public or Private sector Core competency requirement as described in Regulation 805 dated 1st August 2006, Code B driver’s license; No criminal record. Minimum Competency levels, 2007 (gazette 29967 of 15 June 2007) as stipulated in regulation 15 and 18 will be an added advantage.
K N OWLEDGE : Advanced knowledge and understanding of relevant policy and legislation; Advanced understanding of institutional governance systems and performance management ; Advanced understanding of council operations and delegation of powers; Good Governance; Audit and risk management establishment and functionality; and Budget and finance Management
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Responsible for the overall management of the municipality; Provide general strategic management to ensure that the municipality meets the five (5)
Key Performance Areas: Ensuring the development and implementation of strategies that will have a measurable positive impact on organisational productivity and financial performance; Provide advisory service to the Mayor and Council regarding policy issues; Handling the implementation of the Integrated Development Plan; Handling internal and external customer relations; Ensuring implementation of the council’s policies, council resolutions and relevant National and Provincial legislation; Ensuring the development of a Performance Management System as prescribe by law; Ensuring adherence to generally accepted Municipal accounting and administrative practices and procedures; Ensuring that the council vision and strategies are achieved through team-work and cooperation, managing the provision of services to the local community in sustainable manner.

The shortlisted candidates will be subjected to security and reference check as well as competency assessment for recommended interviewees, as per the regulation (Only for Senior Managers posts).
The appointed candidate will be required to sign an employment contract, a performance contract
(Only for Senior Managers posts) and a disclosure of financial interest.
