Key Responsibilities for moderators: Carrying out and evaluating internal assessment and quality assurance systems; Managing and conducting the moderation within acceptable frameworks and standards; Conducting moderation of assessment instruments, plans and guides including documenting proof of individual learners’ competence status; Verifying the fairness, validity, reliability and practicality of assessments; Identifying areas of improvement within the assessment process; Provide support and guidance to the Assessor; Providing an appeals procedure for dissatisfied learners and further assist in finding amicable solutions; Compiling reports as required by the College and the relevant ETQA. 
 
 
 
EXTERNAL MODERATOR: ARTS AND DESIGN (REF: ALMOD01/2025) 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
 4-year degree or B-Tech in visual arts majoring either painting or ceramics or any relevant qualification. 
 Candidate must have intensive knowledge in visual arts higher education and training sector 
 Knowledge in TVET will be an added advantage. 
 Candidate must have an assessor and moderator certificate with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience. 
 The candidate must have knowledge on graphic design (Adobe Creative Cloud) or print making. 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA 
Evaluate student portfolios, projects and exhibitions; provide constructive feedback on the creative and technical aspects of students’ work; ensure the grading process aligns wit established academic standards and objectives. Act as impartial third party to ensure that the curriculum and assessment methods meet the highest academic standards; help verify that the learning outcomes are being met. Suggest improvements to the curriculum to keep it relevant to the current trends in the art world; review the course structure and content to ensure it aligns with industry practices; offer advice and insight into career opportunities in the arts, bridging the gap between academia and the professional art world. Bring fresh, external perspectives on creative practices, ensuring that the programme stays current with evolving art trends.

Positive attitude, with the ability and willingness to learn; fluency in written and spoken English; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; good organizational, administration, planning and time management skills; ability to work effectively under pressure and without immediate supervision.
