MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Prime contributor to the development of the Land Bank Insurance (LBI’s) strategic plan/corporate plan in support of the Head of Risk and Strategy. To produce strategy documents which are instrumental in facilitating the definition and execution of the LBI strategy and to lead the planning process to achieve the intended objectives and positioning of the Insurance through strategy themes. Responsible for the monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the execution of the Insurance ’s Corporate Strategic Plan – including the Insurance ’s Corporate Performance Scorecard, Quarterly Reports to National Treasury, and the Integrated Annual Report.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Key Performance Areas
1. Design, coordinate and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework to enable LBI to report on the outcomes/results of the LBI strategy, in particular its development impact
- Develop an overall framework for monitoring and evaluation for LBI to report on the outcomes/results of the Insurance strategy and its development impact at various levels in the organisation
- Develop baseline data whenever an indicator is identified for strategy and development reporting
- Identify training needs, organise and undertake training on monitoring and evaluation as required
- Collect data on a regular basis to achieve measurement against the performance indicators
- Analyse data, aggregate findings and produce regular reports on progress
- Identify lessons learned, develop case studies and produce documentation to capture and communicate qualitative findings on performance
- Identify indicators to be developed and reported in terms of strategy and development impact assessment.
2. Support corporate reporting framework by providing content for the Integrated Report, Corporate Plan and other mandatory/regulatory reports
- As part of the Risk and Strategy team, identifies content requirements for Integrated Report, Corporate Plan and other relevant corporate reports related to the LBI’s strategy and development impact
- Identify additional indicators and data to be collected in monitoring and evaluation framework to support corporate reporting process
- Writes relevant content for reports at a standard suitable for external publication
- Supports General Manager: Corporate Strategy and Innovation to collate content and document case studies as required
3. Provide Input and Support in other Product Development Projects
- Based on results of monitoring and evaluation activities, identify opportunities to develop new or refine existing financial products for clients
- Provide input to product development specialist and support process to develop relevant products with the necessary information from the monitoring and evaluation outputs
- Ensure new indicators are identified and incorporated in the monitoring and development framework when new or refined financial products are launched
- Incorporate product related reporting in monitoring and evaluation framework
4. Project manage and facilitate the Strategy Planning Process for the Insurance Business
- Communicates planning requirements to stakeholders
- Ensures milestones are not slipping during planning process.
- Conducts analysis to inform the strategic decisions
- Prepares the approach and content for the Board Strategy session
- Ensures that strategy documentation is filed and archived
- Ensures planning is carried out in accordance with the allocated time frame
- Analyses and reviews the planning implementation schedule on an on-going basis throughout the planning in order to make planning recommendations to line management
- Attends regular progress meetings with internal and external stakeholders to obtain feedback on the status of the planning
5. Monitor, Evaluate and Report Progress for internal (Insurance) and external (including shareholder/National Treasury, regulator and other Key Stakeholders) communication.
- Project manages and facilitates content compilation of the Integrated Annual Report.
- Coordinate service provider delivery.
- Identifies and escalates organisational impediments to achievement.
- Proactively evaluates progress towards achieving the strategy and identifies risk areas of non-achievement.
- Quarterly Reporting – Internal Committees; Board and National Treasury
- Generate reports (including Managing Directors reports and Quarterly NT Reports) and slides for submission to shareholders e.g. National Treasury.
- Managing board level communications by preparing and creating meeting materials, presentations, report outs, memos and minutes, Strategy performance
- Develops strategy maps to enable key themes or commitments to be properly tracked.
- Allocates appropriate metrics to each strategy map to enable the Business to measure achievement effectively.
- Implements, tracks and reports on strategy achievement in the Business at divisional, management and individual level.
- Provides data on key functional commitments by the Business and tracking on achievement of these commitments to enable shortfalls to be addressed timeously by senior management.
- Preferred Minimum Education and Experience
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics, Financial Management or related field.
- 5 years experience in the monitoring and evaluation space preferably within a Development Finance
- Intuition of similar; or
- 5 years experience in strategy planning, strategy formulation and strategy development
- 5 years experience in the corporate strategy planning and reporting environment
- 5 years experience within the monitoring evaluation and reporting
- 5 years Co-ordination and preparation of performance monitoring and reporting against organisational strategy and corporate plan

- To plan, direct, lead and manage the provincial sales and marketing strategy for Land Bank Insurance. This includes identification and management of all relevant stakeholders and brokers in the province. The primary purpose of the role to drive the growth of Land Bank Insurance products in the province and to increase Land Bank Insurance visibility in order to optimize new and existing business opportunities.

- Define and plan the objectives of the Province in accordance with the overall business strategy;
- Determine the deliverables of the Province in line with agreed overall objectives;
- Ongoing evaluation of operations with input provided on identified potential areas of improvement to bolster the efficiency of the Province
- Monitor, evaluate and manage business performance at provincial level in accordance with the agreed targets and customer service level benchmarks;
- Provide EXCO with timely, relevant, and complete reports on the business performance of the PO
- Build synergy with other divisions within the Bank
2. Business Growth and Delivery of Value Proposition
- Align Provincial Business Plan to the organisation’s strategy and determine the applicable deliverables and targets for the province
- Customer service failure recovery interventions / decisions.
- Develop and execute integrated sales, relationship, and portfolio growth strategies that are aligned with the business plan to achieve targets and other agreed objectives at provincial level;
- Support the growth in the Province by identifying cross-selling opportunities, building relationships and increasing customer acquisition and retention;
- Plan, organise and coordinate sales, customer service, and administrative processes to ensure smooth operations within the province aligned to overall business operational model and agreed benchmarks;
- Ensure that the appropriate quality of business is procured for the Region
- Manage profitability of the Province: To ensure that the financial objectives of the Province are achieved by: growth of Province in terms of market share and profitability
3. Development Impact Mandate
- Deliver on agreed provincial development mandate in support of the overarching national targets
- Identify, facilitate and manage the execution of agricultural development projects at a provincial level.
4. Customer Value and Stakeholder Management
- Create a strong sales and service culture, fostering collaboration to drive the achievement of all scorecard targets and behaviours to continuously improve the customer service experience
- Resolve escalated customer complaints / issues promptly and effectively with relevant feedback captured and appropriately communicated.
- Identify, establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships within the province and targeted industry segments in accordance with Land Bank values, including provincial government structures, agriculture role players and local community leaders to create opportunities for growth;
- Liaise with key stakeholders to support appropriate agreements when required;
- Identify marketing and branding opportunities and plan the branding and marketing actions in conjunction with the Marketing team and lead sales and service activities within the Province by coordinating seminars, micro-marketing events, promotional campaigns, product initiatives, etc.
- Conduct presentations on Land Bank Insurance products where necessary
5. Financial Sustainability
- Facilitate the achievement of the agreed financial sustainability and profitability targets for the province;
- Provide input into the annual budget and monitor the implementation by effectively managing costs and avoid over spending;
- Manage the budget in accordance with relevant governance and take appropriate corrective action as required;
- Report to management on the performance of the Provinces at the required intervals reflecting all relevant statistics and performance indicators including; profitability, sales, revenue, expenditure, budget variances and key risks;
6. Strategy
- Strategic direction: Determine short- and long-term strategic goals and priorities of the Province
- Formulation and implementation of the marketing strategy of the Province
- Represent Province on public forums and at meetings where necessary
- Provide a primary point-of-contact for regulatory external stakeholders (Government, private sector, internal stakeholders etc.)
- Lead and influence on behalf of the Land Bank Insurance, local, political, legal and regulatory bodies in order to protect and enhance the Land Bank brand
- Strategic engagement with stakeholders: Continuous liaison with the EXCO, business chambers, government institutions, and private sector to establish and nurture long-term relationships and strengthen the identity of the Bank in the province

- B Degree in Commerce or a relevant insurance qualification

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- To plan, direct, lead and manage the provincial sales and marketing strategy for Land Bank Insurance. This includes identification and management of all relevant stakeholders and brokers in the province. The primary purpose of the role to drive the growth of Land Bank Insurance products in the province and to increase Land Bank Insurance visibility in order to optimize new and existing business opportunities.
- The suitable candidate will have diversified and multidisciplinary knowledge and experience, with strong leadership qualities to strategically and innovatively lead the province. The suitable candidate will demonstrate excellent knowledge, skills and experience in the following key performance areas.
Key Performance Areas
1. Business and Operations Management
- Define and plan the objectives of the Province in accordance with the overall business strategy;
- Determine the deliverables of the Province in line with agreed overall objectives;
- Ongoing evaluation of operations with input provided on identified potential areas of improvement to bolster the efficiency of the Province
- Monitor, evaluate and manage business performance at provincial level in accordance with the agreed targets and customer service level benchmarks;
- Provide EXCO with timely, relevant, and complete reports on the business performance of the PO
- Build synergy with other divisions within the Bank
2. Business Growth and Delivery of Value Proposition
- Align Provincial Business Plan to the organisation’s strategy and determine the applicable deliverables and targets for the province
- Customer service failure recovery interventions / decisions.
- Develop and execute integrated sales, relationship, and portfolio growth strategies that are aligned with the business plan to achieve targets and other agreed objectives at provincial level;
- Support the growth in the Province by identifying cross-selling opportunities, building relationships and increasing customer acquisition and retention;
- Plan, organise and coordinate sales, customer service, and administrative processes to ensure smooth operations within the province aligned to overall business operational model and agreed benchmarks;
- Ensure that the appropriate quality of business is procured for the Region
- Manage profitability of the Province: To ensure that the financial objectives of the Province are achieved by: growth of Province in terms of market share and profitability
3. Development Impact Mandate
- Deliver on agreed provincial development mandate in support of the overarching national targets
- Identify, facilitate and manage the execution of agricultural development projects at a provincial level.
4. Customer Value and Stakeholder Management
- Create a strong sales and service culture, fostering collaboration to drive the achievement of all scorecard targets and behaviours to continuously improve the customer service experience
- Resolve escalated customer complaints / issues promptly and effectively with relevant feedback captured and appropriately communicated.
- Identify, establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships within the province and targeted industry segments in accordance with Land Bank values, including provincial government structures, agriculture role players and local community leaders to create opportunities for growth;
- Liaise with key stakeholders to support appropriate agreements when required;
- Identify marketing and branding opportunities and plan the branding and marketing actions in conjunction with the Marketing team and lead sales and service activities within the Province by coordinating seminars, micro-marketing events, promotional campaigns, product initiatives, etc.
- Conduct presentations on Land Bank Insurance products where necessary
5. Financial Sustainability
- Facilitate the achievement of the agreed financial sustainability and profitability targets for the province;
- Provide input into the annual budget and monitor the implementation by effectively managing costs and avoid over spending;
- Manage the budget in accordance with relevant governance and take appropriate corrective action as required;
- Report to management on the performance of the Provinces at the required intervals reflecting all relevant statistics and performance indicators including; profitability, sales, revenue, expenditure, budget variances and key risks;
6. Strategy
- Strategic direction: Determine short- and long-term strategic goals and priorities of the Province
- Formulation and implementation of the marketing strategy of the Province
- Represent Province on public forums and at meetings where necessary
- Provide a primary point-of-contact for regulatory external stakeholders (Government, private sector, internal stakeholders etc.)
- Lead and influence on behalf of the Land Bank Insurance, local, political, legal and regulatory bodies in order to protect and enhance the Land Bank brand
- Strategic engagement with stakeholders: Continuous liaison with the EXCO, business chambers, government institutions, and private sector to establish and nurture long-term relationships and strengthen the identity of the Bank in the province
Preferred Minimum Education and Experience
- B Degree in Commerce or a relevant insurance qualification
- Eligible to be appointed as a Representative in line with FAIS requirements
- 10 years Experience with business development;
- Operations and service experience
- Stakeholder management experience
- Sales management experience
