PURPOSE
To provide accurate capturing of projects data relating to EPWP, and SMME, WC/WDM and other Capital programmes within PMU for correct reporting ensuring compliance with Johannesburg Water and City of Johannesburg legislative requirements.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collect EPWP, and SMME, WC/WDM data timeously from projects in construction from Project Managers (PM) and contractors. Liaise with PM’s and visit sites regularly to attain latest recorded data and verify information. File all captured data on hard files as records for storage. Scan all documents and electronically store in a defined electronic storage system or folder. Capture all jobs created on the preferred template and system in line with EPWP requirements. Capture all SMMEs appointed on projects on the preferred template and system in line prescribed requirements. Verify and capture the site data on households to be provided with basis services. Capture stands information on SAP to initiate metering process and link to related systems. Capture Service Level Agreements and indemnity forms between Johannesburg Water and the community. Capture queries reported on site into SAP and update status of query on resolution. Capture Job cards and file on document management system upon completion of meter installation. Compile accurate monthly reports based on complying information (EPWP/SMME). Compile monthly statistics of SLA captured, recorded and also on indemnity forms signed to assess project buy-in (WC/WDM). Draw different types of data from EPWP/SMME database system as per request for reporting purposes.

IT DESKTOP TECHNICIAN

PURPOSE
The role of the IT Desktop support technician is to provide first and second line support for all staff of Johannesburg Water. The technician is responsible for resolving support requests as well as meeting customer satisfaction and continuous service delivery demands. The IT desktop support staff work in a dynamic environment, which provides IT desktop support services over the phone, through email and in person.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Install and configure all new IT desktops, laptops, printers, scanners and ICT peripherals for all Johannesburg Water Sites. Ensure all desktops, laptops, printers scanners and ICT peripherals are properly labelled and tagged (asset tag). Provide technical hardware support (analyze, diagnose & resolve problems) for all desktops, laptops, printers, scanners and ICT peripherals including troubleshooting. Conduct problem analysis to implement temporary or permanent fixes with the aim of restoring service to the customer as soon as possible and escalating incidents to other support teams where necessary. Update IT incidents requests using the IT helpdesk system. Ensure that all desktops, laptops, printers’ scanners and ICT peripherals are registered in the Hardware Asset Management register. Update the IT Helpdesk and the IT Manager for Business Support of important (P2) support calls. Install and configure all desktop support base build software on desktops & laptops. Provide technical support on desktop base build software (on site, remote support, telephonically or email). Ensure that the latest anti-virus is installed on desktops and laptops. Prepare IMAC forms for new and existing equipment. Prepare FA5 forms of pc equipment that are replaced or moved. Conduct audits of desktops, laptops, printers & ICT peripherals. Liaise with internal IT staff and customers to resolve all technical issues and escalate same if required to ensure smooth business application processes

Plan, propose and implement pro-active measure and responses to public needs and requests to improve service delivery. Liaise with all customers as and when required within the region. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Make sure the safety equipment are used when doing the job on site as per the company policy. Explaining to customers about the internal leaks and refer to the relevant department. Ensure general workers are at work. Transferring of skills to assistant (General Workers). Reading Bulk Meter e.g. Commercials, Reservoirs. Using leak detector by using electronics sound equipment to sound out the leaks within the water reticulation. e.g. applying micro phone to identify the sound underground. Report any visible leaks that are found during day and report to call centre. Capture leaks on Sap system and reported to relevant depots. Investigate illegal consumer connections and report to supervisor. Using pipe locator to locate different pipes underground. To take sample of water to the laboratory e.g. to make sure that is Johannesburg Water or ground water. Submit daily, weekly and monthly report to the supervisor. Change bulk meters at the reservoir.

PURPOSE
Responsible for the reduction of Unaccounted for Water with emphasis on commercial loss. Investigate, analyze meters and meter data (on-site and Management Information Services (MIS) studies). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry out a MIS survey to collect relevant information on the case and then carry out a proper investigation (done frequently as and when required). Analyse and interpret meter related data utilising various MIS .Identify meters for right sizing utilising various MIS (or get a complaints from a consumer necessitating logging). Plan projects based on budget availability. Initiate to CAPEX the request for a contract. Set up the scope of work for the contract. Assist with the initial and technical evaluation of tender documents. Assist with the writing of reports to be submitted for approval to the Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC) and Bid Adjudication Committee (BAC). Attend BEC and BAC and participate in voting for approval of tenders. Ensure that work orders are generated on the MIS and work is scheduled for the contractor. Monitor readings and monthly consumption and identify and investigate irregularities. Submit monthly readings to Meter Reading Departments to assist in correct billing. Manage contract staff and seconded subordinates. Compile PDP’s and Performance Contracts of seconded subordinates to ensure that the work is carried out within the scope of the Performance Contract. Keep statistical records on all CAPEX and OPEX projects (daily, weekly, monthly and overall progress). Generate a report (weekly and monthly) on contract progress. Keep performance and work progress statistics for seconded subordinates up to date.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:
• An Information Technology qualification at NQF 7 and 3 years relevant experience in a Revenue Management environment with experience in a Meter Reading environment and Administration of a Meter Reading system OR Grade 12 NQF 4 and 8 years relevant experience in a Revenue Management environment with experience in a Meter Reading environment and Administration of a Meter Reading system.
• Experience in system development life cycle; object orientated programming; database design and maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the IT Business Support team with desktop configuration and information for the correct and proper installation of the DMS and scanning software applications. Ensure assigned calls are resolved within the defined Service Level Agreement. Provide clear and descriptive answers to user logged problems or queries in the IT Helpdesk Management System. Provide Johannesburg Water users with support in the interoperability of the scanner(s), the DMS and OpenText Captiva Capture applications and software (e.g. Windows drivers). Monitor system log files and performs cleanups as per the DMS Administrators Guide. Assist the DMS Specialist in performing Capacity Management on the DMS landscape, i.e. CPU thresholds, hard disk capacity and space availability, memory utilization, network connectivity and quarterly checks. Assist the DMS Specialist with the download and implementation of patches for the DMS landscape and ancillary systems. Ensure the DMS system user account and security management adheres to the IT Information Security policy. Assist the IT Infrastructure team with the integration of the DMS system with Microsoft’s Active Directory. Assist the DMS Specialist in developing a DMS training programme in Johannesburg Water. Keep abreast of the latest technological advances and best practices in the DMS landscape. Adhere to IT’s Information Security policy and ensure DMS security meets the policies minimum requirements.
