MANAGER: COMMERCIAL LOSS

Job Description
BASED AT HEAD OFFICE
REMUNERATION: R1 291 344 TOTAL COST TO COMPANY PER ANNUM

 
PURPOSE
Reduce Unaccounted for Water, with the emphasis on commercial losses, by planning, coordinating, controlling, and managing commercial loss programs and projects such as the replacement and surveying of water meters.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement a commercial loss management strategy in line with the company’s strategic plan and balance score card. Identify new Management Information System developments and write the necessary system specification. Responsible for commercial loss risk management in JWater (ongoing). Manage projects for the on-site surveying of water meters, e.g.to determine non-domestic users in deemed areas; standby stand surveys, etc. Manage the analysis of surveyed data to ensure accurate billing related information (Data Cleansing) and accurate statistics for decision making. Identify, implement, and manage pro-active meter replacement programs. Ensure that the Management Information System (Data Cleansing Database) containing relevant data of properties surveyed is maintained by subordinates. Ensure that a proper backup system is implemented and maintained by the Database Administrator. Ensure that reported criminal irregularities (theft & misuse of water) are investigated and Compliance Notices issued to transgressors. Ensure that requests for legalisation are issued to and completed by the depots. Manage the full project cycle survey contracts, including capturing, issuing, analysing, and updating of data. Assist CAPEX to manage meter replacement (Commercial Loss’ Project) and meter fault contracts (JWater Project). Ensure that the quality of on-site work done by the contractor is according to JWater standards. Ensure that queries, which were escalated to the section, are investigated, resolved, or referred to the relevant stakeholders. Develop individual and team competence, e.g., PDP’s, training, and succession planning, manage workplace climate – communicate and ensure compliance to policies and procedures. Plan, develop and manage the Operating Expenditure Budget for Commercial Loss.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:

• Business / Engineering / IT / Finance related Diploma or Degree (NQF 6 / 7)
• 8 years working experience of which 4 years must be at a management level, A minimum of 3 years data/systems analysis or business analysis, and 1-year meter billing related experience.
• Code B drivers’ licence.

Job Description
REMUNERATION: R329 376 BASIC SALARY PER ANNUM
 
PURPOSE
To do maintenance and repairs on mechanical plant and equipment within process plant with full regard for the safety of employees in terms of OHAS, SANS and JW safety norms and standard.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Filling in of logbooks, Vehicle, check sheets as per JW Vehicle Policy, risk assessment on and before each job starts and escalation to Ops Manager of high-risk situations, participate in the JW safety programme by attending safety and training meetings, supervise subordinates to achieve section’s goals and objectives, repairing, installing of pumps, including ferric, chorine, lime and polly pumps, with full regard to the safety of employees, install and alignment of belt press cloths, repair and install of valves, Install and removal of motors, pumps, valves and pipe work. Unblocking of sewer pipelines and pumps within the boundary of the process plant, repair and maintain conveyer systems which includes replacements of scrapers, rollers and bearings, chains and sprockets, alignment of pumps, motors, (including replacement of couplings), gearboxes, screw pumps, sprockets and pulleys, maintenance and repair of boilers, compressors and digester plant, maintenance on mechanical equipment of the settling tanks, perform standby duties as per JW collective agreement.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:
  • Trade Certificate (NQF4) Mechanical
  • 2 years’ experience in maintenance, overhauling and repairs of mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of Basic Occupational Health and Safety in the workplace.
  • License code EB
  • Specific Occupational Medical Fitness.
