EXECUTIVE MANAGER OPERATIONS (HRM02)
FIVE YEAR FIXED TERM POSITION
SALARY PACKAGE: R1 451 547 PA (TOTAL COST TO COMPANY)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs and administers the integrated operational activities of Joburg Market to ensure compliance with established objectives, continuous provision of quality, cost, strategic direction and industry requirements. Adhere to build environment regulatory requirements. Secure the optimum level of capital investment in the plant and equipment in order to optimise profitability. Optimise the management of the facility and infrastructure to enhance prospects for growth. Conduct feasibility studies, recommend and implement tariff schedule. Monitor revenue and expenditure trends and make recommendations for cost effective operations. Establish and maintain revenue generating operations on a profitable footing, (based on cost and pricing decisions). Manage the Ammonia Plant within the set building regulations standards and ensure its safe operations at all times. Establish and implement short and long-range goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies and operating procedures. Development Plans and Growth and Development Strategy, and the market strategy. Transform the business into a sustainable growing commercial enterprise. Develop and implement strategies to support the meaningful participation of black farmers and agents in the overall business of the market.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent NQF 7 Qualification plus 5 years’ experience at middle management level as a project/ programme manager, 3 years’ plus of which must be professional level engineering management experience.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to formulate: engineering master planning, project management and implementation.
Good knowledge and understanding of relevant policy and legislation;
Good knowledge and understanding of institutional governance systems and performance management;
Must have knowledge of Fresh Produce Markets’ Complimentary Services.
Must have knowledge and understanding of Food Safety and Quality standards and legislation.
ADDED ADVANTAGE REQUIREMENTS
Certificate of competency as required in terms of the General Machinery
Regulations, 1988; and/or
Registration with a recognised relevant engineering professional body
Minimum MFMA Competencies for senior managers in Local Government.
Must have extensive knowledge of the agriculture industry, fresh produce markets operations and understanding of the market value chain and its stakeholders.
