ASSISTANT ELECTRICIAN
Salary: R 12 453.06 - R16 811.14per month basic plus benefits
JOB PURPOSE:
Under general supervision and assistance, the incumbent performs routine maintenance and repairs of the electrical systems component. Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist with checking and replacing the faulty switches, sockets and other simple electrical systems such as lightingfixtures, tubes and ballasts, wiring connections to fixtures and power equipment, inspection and testing of electricallighting, signal, communication and power circuits, isolating defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electricalcomponents, pulling of wiring through conduits, measuring, cutting, thread and installations of electrical conduitsdismantling electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts such as brushes and armatures, installing and maintaining electrical components such as various types of motors, circuit breakers, lighting fixtures and transformers, with material requirement assessment, repairing, installing, replacing, and testing electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments, measuring, cut, thread, and install electrical conduit electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement,

troubleshooting and repairing electrical controls, motor control centers, and programmable logic controls, performing work in all the electrical chambers (medium and high volt), eradicating breakdowns, supervising of contractors to ensure correct work standards and compliance with OHSA, small construction tasks such as excavating and handling and/or transportation of equipment and materials, ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practice, the installation and wiring of distribution boxes. Check up on the Generators if they are working and re-fuelling of diesel, on UPS(fuses, batteries and UPS distribution board).
• Perform standby duties covering the entire market, including cold store plant and banana ripening facility.
• Electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
• Timely submission of timesheets, log sheets and productivity sheets.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Grade 12/N3 with Electrical/ Elcanop 2 or equivalent in Electrical
With 2 years relevant experience
• Perform standby duties covering the entire market, including cold store plant and banana ripening facility.
• Electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
• Timely submission of timesheets, log sheets and productivity sheets.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
