JOBURG CITY THEATRES (JCT)
6 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT POSITION
The Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is an entity of the City of Johannesburg that stimulates and operates Joburg Theatre, Roodepoort Theatre and Soweto Theatre in order provide the integrated management of theatre.

DESIGNATION: MARKETING MANAGER
DEPARTMENT: SOWETO THREATRE
REPORTING: GENERAL MANAGER
REMUNERATION R44 693.36 (basic salary no benefits)
Requirements and skills
Grade 12
Bachelor’s degree in marketing/PR/Advertising (NQF Level 7) or equivalent/related field.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in an entertainment environment.
Demonstrable experience in marketing together with the potential and attitude required to learn.
Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and leading across channels marketing campaigns that engage, educate, and motivate.
Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, etc.)
Up to date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement
Good written and verbal communications in the English language.
Willingness to work unsociable hours.
Willingness to be communicated with on WhatsApp.
Primary Function
Implement all aspects of the theatre’s day-to-day marketing activities which includes the effective distribution of marketing material, making sure that newspapers are bought daily, and magazines are received for advertising different theatre productions/shows.
Key responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and implement marketing plans for all events/programmes/productions in line with Joburg City Theatres marketing strategy designed to meet agreed company objectives.
Ensure expenditure is in line with approved budgets and compliant with SCM policies.
Evaluate customer research, market conditions, competitor data and implement marketing plan alterations as needed. Manage all aspects of print production, receipt, and distribution.
Maintain the theatre’s social media; Facebook; Twitter, Instagram etc.
Achieve frequent, timely and positive media coverage across all available media.
Conduct market research to identify market requirements for current and future productions.
Create and maintain a harmonious, efficient, and service orientated relationship with the theatre’s tenants, co-producers, show publicists and media partners- and/or their representatives.
Work very closely with the Community and Audience Development Manager in serving existing audiences, finding new ones, earning income, and seeking new opportunities and partnerships.
Manage and oversee the administration and creative process of the department.
Be willing to communicate at all hours utilising a messaging app such as WhatsApp to ensure efficient communication with team.
Compile the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for the Department. Identify, source and secure potential sponsorships and partners for the Soweto Theatre’s programmes/productions/events.
Cooperate and collaborate with colleagues and work in partnership with others.
