The Joburg City Theatres (JCT) an entity of the City of Johannesburg (COJ), operates Joburg Theatre (Braamfontein), Roodepoort Theatre and Soweto Theatre in order provide the integrated management of world class theatre venues and a high quality entertaining, innovative and inclusive programme which serves diverse communities.

Salary: R24, 119.71 per month (basic salary excluding benefits)
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Ensure regular maintenance, inspections on all electrical equipment according to the safety act. ● Ensure all new installation to be done according to the Machinery Act and SANS 1014. ● Test the water control valve on an air handling unit and be able to replace a faulty valve. ● Be able to setup and check settings on the air-handling control system. ● Ensure that all the electrical systems on all machinery are maintained and comply with the Machinery’s Act and SANS 10142. ● Check the batteries of the diesel fire pump engine and the standby generator. ● Understand the different PLC systems for Upper and Lower Stage Machinery. ● Understand how serial communication work and how to establish serial communication between the matron unit and an encoder. ● Be able to setup and reprogram a Matron unit and establish communication between Matron and encoder and understand the data received from encoder. ● Understand how the PLC network interface with the machinery control system. ● Know how to switch to Emergency control on Upper Machinery in emergency situations or when necessary. ● Maintain AC and DC Drives including the setup and loading of drive parameters. ● Assist outside Production Companies and Private Contractors with their electrical requirements. ● Convert the current lighting systems to a LED and / or energy saving system. ● Maintain all the Distribution Boards in the premises/ building; Check for loose connections on an ongoing basis; Test faulty overloads, isolators, contactors and relays; Replace faulty overloads, isolators, contactors and relays. ● Ensure and promote workplace safety in terms of OHASA and Wiring Code SANS 10142.
Appointment Requirements:
N3 or Matric (NQF 4) plus Electrical Trade Test Certificate in Heavy Current
Basic computer literacy
1-year work experience in the electrical field / artisan training.
Good vision
Use of feet (climbing)
Use of hands (typing and lifting)
Standing, sitting and bending
Good hearing
Core Competencies

Ability to work in teams and individually;
Ability to think creatively and;
Decision making skills.
