TYPE APPROVAL SPECIALIST 
JOB LEVEL : D1 
SALARY: Total Annual Package (CTC) – R726,030 per annum 
LOCATION: ICASA (Head Office – Sandton relocating to Centurion in October 2018) 
POSITION STATUS : Permanent 
 
 
Purpose of the job 
● Conceptual and coordination tasks ● These are associated with planning, coordination and consultation, and strategic initiatives, associated with international affairs consultation on spectrum planning matters ● Routine tasks and methods are associated with licensing of radio communications, approval of radio equipment type, and routine monitoring ● These are guided by formal operating procedures and governed by well-defined rules ● Technical tasks require staff with extensive formal and methods-based training and experience ● Frequency assignment, technical standards and spectrum engineering tasks that require these levels of training. 
 
Key Outputs: The successful candidate will report to the Manager: Type Approval, and their responsibilities will include: ● Development and implementation of the National frequency band plan, frequency assignments, type approvals and standards ● Management of radio frequency spectrum ● Inputting to policy formulation and regulations ● Inputting to internal and external meetings pertaining to regulatory issues ● Partaking and represent ICASA at National and International technical fora (e.g. World Radio Conference, WTSA, IEC CISPR, CRASA, SABS). 

 
Qualifications and Experience: ● Honours /4 years degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (NQF level 8) ● 6 to 8 years Radio Frequency planning work experience ● 3 to 5 years managerial experience.
