MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT
JOB LEVEL : B2
SALARY RANGE : Total Annual Package (CTC) – R195,668.00 - R230,197.00
LOCATION : ICASA (Head Office – Eco Park, Centurion)
POSITION STATUS : Permanent
Purpose of the job
To provide a positive, conducive working environment and high standard of building and facilities maintenance.
Key Outputs: The successful candidate will report to the Manager: Facilities and Fleet Management, and their responsibilities will include:
Building and assets maintenance
● Install, repair (disassemble & re-assemble), maintain, and care for buildings, their fixtures, equipment/assets ● Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all assets & resources of ICASA ● Performs minor plumbing repairs (unblocking toilets and drains etc.) ● Conduct minimal repairs on furniture and equipment ● Performance of ad hoc building request ● Complete all daily maintenance requests and report any unfinished work to the facilities office.
Facilities Support Services
● Delivery and collection of groceries and items to various programmes and offices ● Assist other programs with the preparation of stakeholder’s function ● Preparation of Presentation, Canteen and Boardrooms for public hearings ● Setting up recording equipment for official ICASA meetings ● Assist with asset verification processes ● Assist with physical movement of assets to various offices/boardrooms ● Assist with the safe keeping of stored items in basement and storerooms ● Assist with photocopying and binding of bulk documents ● Accompany service providers when maintenance work is done ● Check & perform daily schedule for assigned routine tasks & maintenance repair jobs.
Safe housekeeping
● Assist ICASA in its compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations ● Check that all emergency doors are not obstructed, remove and report any obstructions ● Check that all emergency doors are fitted with safety brackets for easy opening during emergency evacuations ● Arrange storerooms and check that they are safely packed and clean all the time ● Assist with identification & completion of facilities risk assessment
Qualifications and Experience: ● Relevant Higher Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (NQF level 5) ● 3 year National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (NQF L6) will be an added advantage ● 2 - 4 years working experience ● 2 - 3 years performing facilities maintenance duties, similar to those specified above.
Key Competencies and Attributes: ● Physical fitness ● Attention to detail ● Basic administrative and writing skills ● Basic record-keeping skills ● Problem-solving.
