Chief Investigator
(Paterson Grade: D3)
Remuneration package: R1066 384 per annum (Cost to Council)
Minimum requirements:• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree • Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner • 6 years' relevant or practice experience • Knowledge of relevant legislation • Excellent communication and negotiation skills • Excellent planning skills • Good customer relations skills • Computer literacy (MS Office and Outlook).
Principal accountabilities and key performance areas:• Investigate non-compliance with the Act, the regulations and rules • Conduct investigation of premises/practice/trend in complaints related to a specific practitioner/practice or medical aid • Determine the documents/medical records or any other information required as part of the investigation • Assist the Professional Boards with their investigation on clinical and professional compliance matters
• Determine trends of complaints and advise the professional boards and/or Council accordingly • Maintain a register of all investigations conducted • Ensure quality professional correspondence is sent to practitioners regarding their applications and queries • Develop, implement and maintain proactive strategies which will form a link to Professional Practice and Education & Training Divisions • Conduct research on contributing factors towards unprofessional conduct by practitioners • Attend Professional Board and Committee stakeholder engagement sessions when necessary • Develop and conduct awareness programmes • Ensure that resolutions of the Committee of Preliminary Inquiry are executed as prescribed • Compile management report on investigations conducted and decisions made by Committee of Preliminary Inquiry • Generate monthly and quarterly reports on investigations conducted • Carry out any other functions as may be delegated by the Head of Division.
Senior Investigator
(Paterson Grade: D1)
Remuneration package: R686 101 per annum (Cost to Council)
Minimum requirements:• Bachelor's degree in Health Science plus registration with the HCPSA • Postgraduate qualification in Medical Law/Health Law/Medical Ethics/Bioethics will be an added advantage • 5 years' relevant or professional practice experience • Knowledge of HPCSA rules and regulations • Understanding of HPCSA policies • Strong analytical skills • Good customer relations skills • Computer literacy (MS Office and Outlook).
Principal accountabilities and key performance areas:• Investigate allegations of contravention or failure to comply with any provision of the Act • Investigate allegations of unprofessional conduct by registered persons • Consult with Chief Mediator after investigation, to determine if matter may warrant mediation • Utilise case information to develop strategies for prevention of future occurrence • Submit monthly and quarterly reports to the Chief Investigator at the level of compliance and segment of incidence/cases/complaints • Assist the Chief Investigator in identifying stakeholder • Assist in development and conduction of awareness programmes • Compile agenda items in a prescribed format for Committees of Preliminary Inquiry following investigation • Attend Preliminary Inquiry Committee meetings • Assist in the compilation of management reports on complaints investigated and the decision taken by Committees of Preliminary Inquiry • Segment complaints and identify professional boards from which majority of complaints arise and kinds of complaints • Assist in the compilation of reports for Professional Boards and relevant Committees of Council • Carry out any other functions that may be delegated by the Head of Division.

Investigator
(Paterson Grade: C4)
Remuneration package: R556 822 per annum (Cost to Council)
Minimum requirements:• Bachelor's degree in Health Science plus registration with any of Health Statutory Councils • 3 years' relevant or professional practice experience • Knowledge of HPCSA rules and regulations • Understanding of HPCSA policies • Strong analytical skills • Good customer relations skills • Computer literacy (MS Office, and Outlook).
Principal accountabilities and key performance areas:• Investigate allegations of contravention or failure to comply with any provision of the Act • Investigate allegations of unprofessional conduct by registered persons • Obtain relevant information or documents from person or institutions • Compile reports for the preliminary inquiry including the following: Facts of the case; issues; rules or provision contravened and recommendation of the Committee • Submit monthly and quarterly reports to the Chief Investigator at the level of compliance and segment of incidence/cases/complaints • Assist the Chief Investigator in identifying stakeholder • Assist in development and conduction of awareness programmes • Compile agenda items in a prescribed format for Committees of Preliminary Inquiry following investigation • Attend Preliminary Inquiry Committee meetings • Assist in the compilation of management reports on complaints investigated and the decision taken by Committees of Preliminary Inquiry • Assist in the compilation of reports for Professional Boards and relevant Committees of Council • Carry out any other functions as may be delegated by the Head of Division.
