GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES PENSION FUND (GEPF)
 
With accumulated funds and reserves of R1,8 trillion, the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) is a defined benefit fund that manages pensions and related benefits on behalf of government employees in South Africa. It is the largest pension fund in South Africa and Africa, and one of the largest in the world. The Fund is actively seeking to appoint a highly regarded and respected leader to assume the position of:
 
PRINCIPAL EXECUTIVE OFFICER 
 
 
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Principal Executive Officer is responsible for setting the strategy and vision, and leading the Fund in the effective implementation of the Board approved strategic objectives, the achievement of service level agreement obligations with key service providers, and the management of the GEPF’s risk exposure. 
 
Qualifying requirements: 
 A postgraduate qualification in business, finance, or management 
 Demonstrable strong track record of at least 10 years in executive management in the financial services or pension fund environment 
 Experience in retirement fund management, including oversight of investments, risk and the administration of benefits, actuarial services and valuations and also knowledge of the various legislative requirements 
 Strong business orientation and leadership experience, having successfully overseen a broad spectrum of business strategic and operational activities 
 Strong stakeholder management experience and capability.
