Introduction
The position of ICT Senior Data Governance Specialist (MS Purview) is currently vacant. This role is a six (6) month fixed-term contract aligned to the operational requirements of the ICT Division. The incumbent will report directly to the Senior Manager: Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence and will be based at Head Office – Pretoria.
The total remuneration package will be between R92 463.00 and R115 579.00 per month dependent on skills and experience

Duties & Responsibilities
The ICT Senior Data Governance Specialist (MS Purview) will be required to provide support to the Senior Manager: Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence through the execution of the following Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
  • Lead the implementation, configuration, and management of Microsoft Purview as part of enterprise data governance initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, standards, and policies aligned with organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and implement data cataloguing, classification, lineage, and policy management to enhance data discoverability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with business units and technical teams to define data ownership, stewardship roles, and metadata management processes.
  • Develop and manage data quality rules, dashboards, and monitoring processes to ensure integrity, consistency, and reliability of data.
  • Drive data classification initiatives to support compliance with POPIA, GDPR, and other data protection legislation.
  • Develop comprehensive training materials, documentation, and user guides for Microsoft Purview and related governance practices.
  • Conduct training and awareness sessions to build data governance capability across business and IT teams.
  • Monitor and report on data governance KPIs, maturity levels, and program effectiveness, ensuring alignment to organisational strategy.
  • Partner with data security, audit, and compliance teams to ensure alignment between governance and data protection frameworks.
 
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualification Requirements:
  • A Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related discipline (NQF level 6 or higher).
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
  • Certification in Data Management or Governance (e.g., CDMP, DAMA, DCAM) will be advantageous.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview implementation and administration.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance principles (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM).
  • Experience in data quality management, metadata management, and data catalog maintenance.
  • Exposure to Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake) and modern data platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead governance projects across business and IT environments.

​SENIOR MANAGER: PROCUREMENT OPERATIONS

The position of Senior Manager: Procurement Operations is currently vacant. The incumbent will report directly to the Chief Finance Officer and will be based at Head Office – Pretoria.
The total remuneration package will be between R 1,613,106 and R2,016,382 per annum dependent on skills and experience

Duties & Responsibilities
The Senior Manager: Procurement Operations will be required to perform the following KPA responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic planning, management, and monitoring of all procurement operations for Head Office and related business units.
  • Oversee contracted procurement consultants, procurement compliance, and risk controls.
  • Drive digital transformation in procurement systems and data analytics to improve transparency and operational efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous procurement governance, including adherence to the Medical Schemes Act, B‑BBEE Codes, POPIA, and King IV principles.
  • Manage and monitor procurement budgets, expenditure, and reporting in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer and relevant Committees.
  • Lead the preparation of procurement reports, submissions, and documentation required for Board and Committee decision‑making.
  • Ensure alignment of procurement activities with GEMS strategy, policies, and financial objectives.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop procurement staff to ensure operational excellence, performance improvement, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of ethics, accountability, and member value within the Procurement unit.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and mitigate procurement risks and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
 
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualification Requirements:
  • A Degree, B‑Tech, Bachelors, or Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Economics, or a related qualification.
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management and/or Procurement, with 5 years at a managerial level.
  • Proven experience in managing tender processes, contract management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of financial management, procurement systems, and risk management frameworks.
  • Experience within a medical scheme or regulated environment will be advantageous.

Duties & Responsibilities
The ICT Senior Data Engineer will be required to provide support to the Senior Manager: Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence through the execution of the following Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and architectures that support advanced analytics, machine learning models, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Implement robust and scalable data solutions using Microsoft Azure technologies (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Data Lake Storage).
  • Develop and maintain Python and R scripts for data processing, automation, and statistical analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of data solutions across systems.
  • Ensure data quality, compliance, and governance through systematic testing and monitoring.
  • Support CI/CD processes for automation of data workflows and ensure adherence to data security best practices.
  • Maintain and support the operational environment to ensure high availability and performance of data systems.
  • Develop training materials, documentation, and best practices for effective use of open-source tools (Python & R) for corporate use.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to enhance analytics and data management capabilities across GEMS.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, POPIA, and relevant data protection regulations.
 
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualification Requirements:
  • A Diploma or University Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related field (NQF level 6)
  • A minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Data Lake Storage Gen2).
  • Proficiency in Python (Numpy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn) and R for data processing and statistical modelling.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, data warehousing, and data modelling principles.
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git, DevOps CI/CD pipelines)
  • Understanding of data governance and security best practices.
  • Added advantage: experience with real-time data streaming (Kafka, Event Hubs); ML lifecycle tools (MLflow, Azure ML); BI tools (Power BI, Tableau); containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes, Airflow).
