RE-ADVERTISEMENT OPERATIONAL MANAGER NURSING GENERAL GRADE 1 (PNA5- CTOP)

REQUIREMENTS: Basic R425 qualification (Diploma/Degree in nursing) that allows registration with South African Nursing Council as a professional Nurse. Proof of current registration with SANC. A minimum of 7years appropriate /recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in general nursing. Training as a CTOP and Contraception and Fertility Planning Provider. A qualification in Nursing Management or experience as an Operational Manager will be an added advantage.
Duties
Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how this impacts on service delivery. Ensure quality clinical nursing practice by the nursing team in accordance with the scope of practice, departmental prescripts and Ideal Hospital Standards. Ability to head a Unit. Implement patient care related operating standards. Demonstrate basic understanding of HR, Labour Relations issues, financial and material resource issues.
Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors and other stakeholders. Good verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge and implementation of Disciplinary steps as per prescripts. Co-ordinate all clinical and nursing activities as executed by various members of the multidisciplinary team at unit level. Monitor and evaluate patient care, and quality assurance programmes. Display concern for patient safety. Ensure that the unit adheres to Batho Pele principles. Able to manage own work and time and that of colleagues. Manage and redress complaints received in the unit. Conflict management and problems solving in the Unit. Willing to Work after-hours, standby or on call basis.
