Description
Purpose of the Job:
The candidate incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the development of strategic approaches for the Consumer Education Department, in line with the objectives and mandate of the FSCA.
The person appointed to this position will report to the Departmental Head: Consumer Education.
Key Performance Areas:
⦁ Formulate, maintain and oversee an effective strategic plan to implement and promote financial awareness and capability in South Africa, including related to financial education activities. This includes identifying and implementing strategic partnerships to promote reach and impact of financial education activities in South Africa. It relies on an evidence-based approach to prioritise areas of significant impact.
⦁ Manage the research and monitoring and evaluation activities of the department.
⦁ Assist in overseeing the implementation of conduct standards for consumer education.
⦁ Provide guidance and assistance in the development of content for consumer financial education activities.
⦁ Lead and manage assigned staff in Consumer Education Department efficiently and effectively to achieve departmental and FSCA objectives.
⦁ Build and maintain stakeholder relationships with, but not limited to, the Financial Services Consumer Education Foundation, departments of education and other educational institutions, provincial consumer affairs offices, various national and international forums, research and monitoring and evaluation institutions and other FSCA departments and divisions.
⦁ Initiate, lead and participate in financial education activities of the FSCA.
⦁ Promote the incorporation of financial education into all levels of the formal education system.
⦁ Prepare an annual budget in relation to aspects contained in the business plan of the Consumer Education Department.
⦁ Promote innovation of financial education implementation methodologies.
⦁ Initiate, implement and facilitate thought leadership processes and activities on financial education and its role in economic growth

Requirements
A Bachelors’ degree in Social Sciences or Education or an equivalent, relevant qualification, with at least 5 years relevant work experience, 3 of which being at a management level. A Post Graduate degree will be an advantage. The candidate must have extensive knowledge and experience in the administration of educational projects and programmes, including instructional design. Knowledge of educational programmes to youth in the informal sector and other vulnerable groups is preferred. The ability to commission and do research and implement the results thereof, monitor and evaluate, give high level presentations and managing projects at a senior level, is essential. The successful candidate must be able to display good planning, strategizing, project management, organisational and leadership skills. The successful candidate may be required to travel nationally and internationally.

COMMITTEE SECRETARY: SECRETARIAT (Pretoria)

Description
Purpose of the Job:
To render appropriate secretariat and corporate governance services to the FSCA, including the provision of secretarial and administrative support to the Office of the Pension Funds Adjudicator and Office of the FAIS Ombud. The person will be reporting to the Senior Committee Secretary.
Key Performance Areas:
- Render professional Secretariat services to relevant internal and external committees of the FSCA, OPFA and FAIS Ombud Office in accordance with the industry’s best practices.
- Ensure timeous communication on execution of decisions and resolutions of relevant Committee meetings within the FSCA.
- Render corporate governance services to committee members in acting as the central source of guidance for relevant portfolio/s as per the mandate of the committees.
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders within relevant portfolio, especially with regard to matters of corporate governance.
- Ensure adherence to prescribed quality standards and best practices of secretariat services.
- Manage and co-ordinate the annual FSCA meetings calendar and Annual Workplans.
- Review Terms of Reference on an annual basis.
- Administer annual declarations by the committee members.
- Responsible for logistics related to meetings of the FSCA committees which include accommodation, catering, travel and venue bookings; and

Requirements
Matric and appropriate/ relevant degree or diploma (legal qualifications will be added advantage) with at least 5 year’s relevant experience in minutes taking and corporate governance services. Experience in the regulatory environment coupled with the knowledge of the financial services sector will also be an added advantage.
