The KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Board, trading as Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, is a PFMA Schedule 3C public entity established in terms of the KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Management Act (Act No. 9 of 1997).

 
THE ENTITY
The entity is responsible for the management of nature conservation within the Province of KwaZulu-Natal including protected areas as well as development and promotion of ecotourism and facilities within the protected areas. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife wishes to appoint a suitable candidate into the position of Technical Services Manager to be based at Queen Elizabeth Park, Pietermaritzburg.
 
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To develop and implement policies and strategies for the design, construction, maintenance of all EKZNW facilities and civil infrastructure, including Reclamation, buildings and water care in support the organisation’s operational effectiveness. 
To effectively manage the acquisition, maintenance and replacement of the fleet and plant.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
National Diploma in Built Environment
B Tech. degree / BSc (Engineering) will be an added advantage
 
EXPERIENCE: 
At least 5 years’ experience in built environment, with significant experience in multiple projects and implementation and monitoring of Electrical or Mechanical maintenance plans. 
 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
  • Implementation of an integrated computerised maintenance system (SAP) to ensure effective maintenance scheduling, keeping of history and reporting to top management. 
  • Ensure the development and implement of strategies for the provision of suitable and well maintained facilities and civils infrastructure. 
  • Ensure the development and implementation of strategies for the provision of a suitable, well maintained vehicle fleet and static plant.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of strategies for the provision of portable water and reticulation services to EKZNW camps, resorts and reserves.
  • Ensure the provision of radio communications to the organisation.
  • Ensure that dredging operations are implemented in accordance with customer need and the legislation. 
  • Manages Technical Services budget.
  • Manages Technical Services team.
 
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
  • A knowledge of computerised plant maintenance system, knowledge of and experience in the SAP Plant Maintenance would be advantageous.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Leadership, management and interpersonal skills
  • Diagnostic and analytical skills.
  • Financial management.
  • Project management.
  • Knowledge and skills in tender and contract management.
  • Understanding of water and effluent treatment.
  • Knowledge of dredging operations.
