CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER- 5 YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT
The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is a statutory body charged with the mandate to regulate the engineering profession in accordance with the Engineering Profession Act 46 of 2000.

Position Summary:
Chief Executive Officer position has become available. This individual will be responsible for performing the duties of the Accounting Officer of ECSA, reporting to the Governing Council, developing and implementing the approved organisational strategy through annual performance plans, overseeing the day-to-day management and compliance of ECSA’s resources, ensuring organisational stability in delivering on ECSA’s mandate, and serving as the chief spokesperson of the organisation.

KPA 9: Internal Communications / Relationship Management
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Strategy & Organisational Leadership
· Ensure ECSA delivers on its mandate
· Develop and implement long-term organisational strategy and annual performance plans.
· Ensure optimal organisational development- effectiveness and high performance.
Compliance, Governance and Financial Management
· Ensure organisational compliance with legal, finance, audit and policy requirements.
· Fulfil statutory roles under POPIA, OHS Act (16.1), EPA Act, and SARS (Public Officer).
· Develop long-term financial and investment plans aligned to organisational strategy.
· Oversee budgeting, cash flow, investment planning, and financial sustainability.
· Produce annual reports and annual financial statements.
Stakeholder Relations & Representation
· Manage relationships with CBE, voluntary associations, the industry, academic institutions and international stakeholders.
· Serve as a key liaison for sector-wide matters and thought leadership.
Qualifications and Requirements
· A postgraduate qualification in Master of Business Leadership/Master of Business Administration.
· Postgraduate Degree in any of the Engineering categories and disciplines (advantageous).
· Registered Professional Engineer/Technologist.
· Minimum 15 years senior management experience, 5 years at Executive Level.
· Regulatory or Built Environment experience advantageous.
· Experience with strategy-setting, operations management, resource management, and reporting to Council/Board.
Skills & Knowledge
· Strong understanding of EPA Act 46 of 2000 and other related legislation required for regulation in the Built Environment Sector.
· ECSA’s role, mandate, stakeholders, reporting lines and compliance universe.
· Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage complex operations, and drive organisational alignment.
