POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS 
Post-doctoral Fellows (PDFs) support research and other academic activities as specified by the Hosting entity. For this Call the hosting entity is the Faculty of Management Sciences. The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program aims to provide opportunities for postdoctoral candidates to conduct innovative research, publish, expand networks, and increase knowledge in the field of management sciences. We therefore seek candidates who will advance knowledge in the area that are identified in this advertisement. The key objective for these appointments is to carry out research to high impact outputs in the areas of: 
• Academic Reflexive Research and higher education management research; 
• BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) economic growth and development related research on themes that include: BRICS Economics Models and BRICS Financing, Climate Change and Green Energy; Public Administration and Public Policy, Tourism and People-to-People Exchanges; Peace and Security.

BACKGROUND
Provision has been made for ten (10) PDF positions, to be filled in by any nationality with preference given to South Africans followed by members from SADC and BRICS nations. Please note that Post-Doctoral Fellows are not appointed as employees of the university, therefore, they are not eligible for employee benefits but are awarded tax-free stipends. Applicants should have doctoral qualifications and evidence of research outputs in the following areas:

• Climate Change and Green Energy; 
• Education/Education Policy/Higher Education Management; 
• Economics/Macro-Economic; 
• Information and Communications Technology; 
• Law and Governance; 
• Peace and Security; 
• Public Administration; 
• Sustainable Development in the Global South; 
• Tourism and People to People Exchanges 
 
FELLOWSHIP STIPEND 
• A salary of R 430 000 per annum; 
• Research expenses allowance: R50 000; 
Successful candidates in this programme will be employed on a two-year contract subject to availability of funds and significant progress of the PDF. 
 
EXPECATIONS AND OUTPUTS 
• The doctoral degree awarded should not be older than five years; 
• Applicants should have publishing experience in the fields/disciplines in which they apply; 
• Successful applicants shall carry out other duties consistent with a post-doctoral fellowship, e.g., co-supervision of M&D students and conference presentations; 
• Successful applicant will be required to publish a minimum of 2 publication units per annum in DHET/ISI/IBSS accredited journals; 
• Abiding by DUT’s policies, rules and procedures for post-doctoral fellows as well as codes of conduct.

Real Estate Management 
POST: DIRECTOR- REAL ESTATE PLANNING (R239) 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
  • NQF Level 8 in Real Estate Management OR Built Environment OR Property management OR Facilities Management OR Engineering OR related field. 
  • A Professional Project Management Qualification. 
  • Eligible to be registered as a professional member with a built-environment OR relevant field. 
  • At least 6 to 10 years’ appropriate experience in a built environment profession in the Higher Education Sector or similar. 
  • At least 6 years Senior Managerial experience in Real Estate Management. 
  • At least 6 years proven experience in management of large-scale infrastructure projects 
 
Summary of Duties: 
  • Development and implementation of Real Estate long term plans in line with the strategic objectives of the university and in respect to property development, tenant improvements, land planning, infrastructure planning and design, site development and construction. 
  • Development of operational goals, targets and timelines and including implementation of support systems and services 
  • Compliance with property condition analysis, capital improvement, policies and other relevant regulations 
  • Works collaboratively with other departments in the university to ensure integrated service provision and minimization of destruction to co- activities. 
  • Management of budgets including implementation of financial controls, records compilation of budgets, management of expenses and expenditure. 
  • Management of people and resources including performance management, skills development and build a robust effective talent and leadership pipeline and succession planning within the unit. 
  • Create and maintain a climate conducive for team performance to enable the team to deliver on set targets.

Minimum Requirements: 
  • NQF Level 8 in Construction Management OR Quantity Surveying OR Civil Engineering OR related field. 
  • A Professional Project Management Qualification. 
  • Eligible to be registered as a professional member of ECSA OR PMP OR SACPMP OR relevant field. 
  • At least 6 to 10 years technical experience in the built environment (design or construction) 
  • At least 6 years proven experience in infrastructure development management and property management in the South African Higher Education Sector 
  • At least 6 years’ experience in management of large-scale infrastructure projects 
 
Summary of Duties: 
  • Initiates and informs the programs, projects and Infrastructure Plan in line with the strategic objectives of the University. 
  • Assesses, plans, and deliver infrastructure requirements to meet and improve on the needs within the University and deliver value added solutions. 
  • Develops and Implement safety procedures; tender safety risk analysis, evaluation of construction safety plans and construction safety audits. 
  • Works collaboratively with other departments in the university to ensure integrated service provision and minimization of destruction to co- activities. 
  • Management of budgets including implementation of financial controls, records compilation of budgets, management of expenses and expenditure. 
  • Management of people and resources including performance management, skills development and build a robust effective talent and leadership pipeline and succession planning within the unit. 
  • Create and maintain a climate conducive for team performance to enable the team to deliver on set targets. 
  • Ensures effective and timeous delivery of project parameters to core customers, without compromising quality and cost.
