​CALL FOR NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES TO SERVES AS AA MEMBERS OF CATHSSETA

 
CALL FOR NOMINATION OF SUITABLE CANDIDATES FROM THE RESPECTIVE CONSTITUENCIES UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE CULTURE, ARTS, TOURISM, HOSPITALITY AND SPORT SECTOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING AUTHORITY (CATHSSETA) TO BE CONSIDERED FOR APPOINTMENT AS MEMBERS OF THE ACCOUNTING AUTHORITY OR BOARD BY THE MINISTER OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING, HONOURABLE DR NOBUHLE PAMELA NKABANE FOR THE PERIOD: 01 APRIL 2025 – 31 MARCH 2030 
 
The Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) is one of the 21 Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) that are established in terms of section 9 of the Skills Development Act No. 97 of 1998 as amended (SDA) and classified as schedule 3 public entities in terms of section 49 of the Public Finance Management Act No.1 of 1999 as amended (PFMA). 
Nominations for suitable candidates to be appointed to fill 14 vacancies on the Accounting Authority of CATHSSETA by the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Honourable Dr Nobuhle Pamela Nkabane are hereby invited from the respective subsectors outlined below: 
  • Six (6) representatives from Organised Employers registered with the CATHSSETA; 
  • Six (6) representatives from Organised Labour operating within the sector; and 
  • Two (2) representatives from Community Constituencies that have an interest in promoting and advancing skills development within the jurisdiction of the CATHSSETA. 
 
Nomination of skilled and experienced candidates who fall within one (1) of the above-listed constituencies are invited to fill the 14 vacancies which excludes that of the Chairperson. For the nomination to be considered, the following requirements must be met: 
  • Minimum of matric certificate plus an undergraduate qualification rated of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 7 by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Candidates with foreign qualifications must present a confirmation SAQA regarding recognition and level of the qualification obtained; 
  • Demonstratable and traceable work experience with the candidate having operated at a senior level of the organisation; 
  • Knowledge and understanding of legislative, regulatory prescripts and policies governing the public sector; 
  • Knowledge of the SETA environment will be advantageous; 
  • Must be a South African Citizen and in possession of an Identity Document; and 
  • Does not have an existing criminal record. 
 
Furthermore, the following documents must be submitted electronically: 
  • Nomination form, signed by the nominator and the nominee; 
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae; 
  • Certified copies of the Identity Document (ID) and educational qualifications (certified within six (6) months); 
  • Signed Declaration of Interest Form as provided by CATHSSETA; 
  • Completed Probity or Security Vetting Form as provided by CATHSSETA; 
  • Letter of Acceptance of Nomination; 
  • Letter of support from the Nominating Constituency, indicating the availability of the nominee;




​Confirmation of the number of members or employees within that constituent member(s) who is nominating the candidate to assist in determining the proportional representation on the Board as required in the Approved Constitution of the CATHSSETA; and 
No self-nomination/application shall be acceptedNominated candidates who meet all the requirements shall be subjected to security, criminal and credit checks and qualification verification as part of the appointment process.
