SOFTWARE TESTER (SIX MONTHS CONTRACT)

THE EMPLOYER
The Cross-Border Road Transport Agency is a statutory authority, established in terms of Section 4 of the Cross-Border Road Transport Act, Act 4 of 1998, as amended, to regulate cross-border road transport.
The position of Senior Software Developer will be based at the Agency’s Head Office in Centurion, Eco-Park. The incumbent will report directly to the Chief Information Officer.
Purpose
The primary responsibility of a software tester is the quality assurance stage of software development and deployment. A software tester shall conduct automated and manual tests to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose and any bugs or issues are removed within a product before it gets deployed to the production environment. The software tester shall take full accountability of the testing process, tools, techniques, and standards.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree or 3 Year Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and
• ISEB or ISTQB Certification
Experience
• At least 8 years’ experience in the Full Software Quality Assurance Lifecycle
• At least 2 years’ experience in a Management/Team Leadership role
• Experience of modern QA automation and monitoring tools.
• Microsoft .Net experience preferred.
• Microsoft DevOps experience.
• Working with stakeholders to ensure QA strategy is understood and implemented correctly.
• Experience of working with teams following an Agile methodology.
• Software Design and Development
• Programming experience
• Software testing experience with knowledge of automated testing methodologies

Competency Requirements:
• Knowledge of software quality assurance
• Understanding of software development methodologies, e.g. SCRUM and Agile
• Working with data such as conversion, transfer and report design.
• Working knowledge of object-oriented design and development skills
• Knowledge of Test Automation tools
Key Performance Areas:
The successful candidate will be expected to:-
• Establish Quality Assurance discipline as an integral component of the Software Development Lifecycle
• Design, build and execute test conditions, test procedures and regression tests to cover all system requirements.
• Test Scope determination.
• Conduct stress testing, performance testing, functional testing and scalability testing
• Write and execute test scripts
• Run manual and automated tests
• Test solution in different environments including web and mobile platforms
• Write bug reports and present to the development team
• Assess system code for bugs and errors
• Provide the necessary evidence to support evaluations
• Implement the necessary tools and techniques to achieve the defined goals
• Sign-off on the final release readiness for product and component releases to provide assurance that the product is deployed / released according to the best possible quality standards
• Provide objective feedback to software development project teams
• Design tests to mitigate risks and to ensure all risks are mitigated.
SALARY: The employer offers a market related salary.
