SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER (SIX MONTHS CONTRACT)

THE EMPLOYER
The Cross-Border Road Transport Agency is a statutory authority, established in terms of Section 4 of the Cross-Border Road Transport Act, Act 4 of 1998, as amended, to regulate cross-border road transport.
The position of Payroll Officer will be based at the Agency’s Head Office in Centurion, Eco-Park. The incumbent will report directly to the Communication Information Officer.
Purpose
The primary responsibility of a senior software developer is to perform various software development duties that includes directing and overseeing a team of IT developers, testers, and quality assurers, writing and reviewing code, analysing data, contributing to solution design and best practices as well as supporting respective systems on production or 3rd party environments.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree or 3 Year Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
Experience
• 8+ years' experience in software development, including online and mobile applications
• Extensive experience of Web technologies such as ASPX, ASP, ASCX, HTML and MVC5
• Experience with Agile development methodologies (Sprints/SCURM, etc)
• More than 4 years supervisory experience in managing IT Teams
• Experience in delivering large IT solutions
• Experience and thorough understanding of different delivery methodologies and development lifecycles.
• Software testing experience with knowledge of automated testing methodologies
• Knowledge of software quality assurance.
Competency Requirements:
• Extensive knowledge of programming including C# using Visual Studio using Webforms, JavaScript, CSS, SQL, MVC and entity framework, VB.net, Angular or ASP.net
• Good understanding of Web Services protocols such as REST, SOAP and API design
• Translate clients’ business requirements and objectives into technical applications and solutions
• Knowledge and experience of Service Oriented Architecture. Design, develop and implement new integrations
• Knowledge of Microsoft Sharepoint and Workflow
• Java/JEE, Angular, Spring, JSON, XML, REST, SQL Database, Distributed System, RDBMS, MVC frameworks, Design Patterns, Javascript, JQuery, GWT, JSON
Key Performance Areas:
The successful candidate will be expected to:-
▪ Manage and oversee a team of software developers and testers to deliver on the project.
▪ Work with the Solutions Architect to design and implement components of the new web-based online permit management system.
▪ Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
▪ Write and customise new code and update and debug existing system to ensure a smooth user experience and a uniform look across a variety of platforms
▪ Implement software according to requirements as specified in functional requirements. Work closely with the business analyst to ensure the correct understanding of the activities.
▪ Work with the IT team to design new and innovative software solutions to improve and simplify customer experience.
▪ Ensure the seamless integration of the core system with external entities across various platforms and technologies.
▪ Design and develop testing code and perform intensive testing of all new and existing programs to ensure they are free of errors and function as intended
▪ Ensure the quality of all products prior to commissioning. Oversee and participate in releasing new systems and ensuring stability of such systems.
▪ Responsible for system performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation
▪ Keep up to date on the newest technological innovations in the field and be ready to apply relevant innovations to the new system being developed.

SALARY: The employer offers a market related salary.
