COMMISSION FOR GENDER EQUALITY (CGE)
 
The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) is an Independent statutory body created in terms of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 (as amended). The CGE is committed to a society free from gender oppression and all forms of inequality.
 
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position:
 
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
(5-years performance-based contract)
All-inclusive negotiable annual remuneration package 
 
This position reports to the Chairperson of the CGE. The successful candidate will be required to lead CGE Secretariat in advising and support the CGE in a manner which ensures that the CGE discharges its legislative mandate and obligations consistent with national and international best practises.
 
 
Requirements: • A post graduate degree or NQF level 9 in one of these disciplines Law, Social Sciences, Human Rights or Gender and Development. • A minimum of 7 years proven leadership experience in similar environment, 5 years of which must be at Executive level. • Understanding and knowledge of the human rights, gender equality, PFMA and other relevant legislation including international human rights protocols. • Extensive experience in managing financial and human capital including governance principles and related matters.
 
The successful candidate must: • Ensure that the CGE Secretariat fully supports the Commission to execute its mandate in terms of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa,1996, the CGE Act, and any other applicable legislation. • Prepare and submit an Annual Strategic Plan and Budget to the employer for approval. • Implement the approved Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan and report to the employer on progress on monthly, quarterly and on adhoc basis as the employer may require. 
• Provide general leadership, direction and implement transformation and change management processes and initiatives. • Ensure that there is proper, accurate leadership and management of the CGE Secretariat at all times. • Have the drive, leadership and good networks that can be mobilised to strengthen the CGE’s mandate. • Ensure that the CGE Secretariat and CGE service providers comply with relevant laws and regulations that apply to the operation of the CGE. • Ensure the highest level of service delivery by CGE Secretariat.
