Purpose

- Contribute to all stages of software development lifecycle
- Design, implement and maintain Java-based applications that can be high-volume and low-latency
- Analyse user requirements to define business objectives
- Envisioning system features and functionality
- Define application objectives and functionality
- Ensure application designs conform with business goals
- Identify and resolve any technical issues arising
- Create detailed design documentation
- Propose changes to current Java infrastructure
- Develop high quality source code and test software
- Evaluate existing application technology, update and add new features
- Design database architecture for applications
- Develop applications for mobile platforms
- Collaborate with Systems Engineers for server environment upgrades
- Troubleshoot and debug application issues
- Provide support and problem resolutions
- Develop technical and release documents to accurately represent application design and code
- Train super users on upgrades and enhancements
- Research new technologies and keep abreast of technology developments
- Monitor adherence to information security and risk management policies
Key Requirements:
- Appropriate Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience designing and building applications
- In-depth knowledge of Java SE and Java EE programming
- In-depth knowledge Objected Oriented Programming
- In-depth knowledge and experience in Java API development and integration to multiple systems
- Development Processes and Methodologies
- Application Release Management (Subversion)
- Skill for writing reusable Java libraries
- Knowhow of Java concurrency patterns
- Basic Understanding of the concepts of MVC (Model-View-Controller) Pattern, JDBC (Java Database Connectivity), and RESTful web services
- Experience in working with web application frameworks like Play and Spark
- Relevant Knowledge of Java GUI frameworks like Swing, SWT, AWT according to project requirements
- In-depth knowledge of code versioning tools, like, Git

ICT SECURITY SPECIALIST

The ICT Department has a vacancy of an ICT Security Specialist at the National Office.
Purpose
Protect and maintain the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of data processed on ICT systems both on premises and in the cloud. You will monitor our computer networks for security issues, install security software, and document any security issues or breaches you find.
Duties and Responsibilities –
- Monitor computer networks for security issues.
- Investigate security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents.
- Install security measures and operate software to protect systems and information infrastructure, including firewalls and data encryption programs.
- Document security breaches and assess the damage they cause.
- Work with the security team to perform tests and uncover network vulnerabilities.
- Fix detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard.
- Stay current on IT security trends and news.
- Develop company-wide best practices for IT security.
- Perform penetration testing.
- Help colleagues install security software and understand information security management.
- Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management.
- Stay up-to-date on information technology trends and security standards.
- Development and maintenance of security policies and procedures
- Perform IT security risk and auditing assessment.
- Implement Information security continuous improvement programs.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Appropriate Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
- IT Security management certifications highly recommended (CISSP or SSCP or CCSP)
- 5 years’ experience in ICT operation, 3 years in ICT security role and 2 years’ experience in cloud security i.e., Azure, AWS
- Experience in information security or related field.
- Experience with computer network penetration testing and techniques.
- Understanding of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, and IDPS concepts.
- Ability to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities and explain how to avoid them.
- Understanding of patch management with the ability to deploy patches in a timely manner while understanding business impact.
- Experienced in installing security software and documenting security issues.
