Senior Manager: Office of the Director - National Office (Post level: 03)
 
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), an independent world-class authority, that resolves labour disputes and provides advice and training on labour relations, is looking for a dynamic individual to take up the role of Senior Manager: Office of the Director and make a difference to the organisation.
 
This role is required to provide strategic support and advisory to the Director and to plan and direct all administrative, financial and operational activities for the Office of the Director. The incumbent will organise and prioritize critical issues and required information for the Director to facilitate effective decision making. The Senior Manager must ensure that the focus of the Director is on the key mandate of the CCMA.
 
The position is based at the CCMA’s national office based in Johannesburg and will report to the Director of the CCMA. The incumbent may be required to travel from time to time.
 
 
Key Performance Areas:-
• Policy Support and enhancement
Identify policy and governance gaps that will negatively impact the CCMA and ensure where necessary that policies are developed, as required, within the various departments and units. Ensure that the policy universe is updated, relevant and is being properly implemented.
• Innovation, Excellence and Transformation
Ensure implementation of processes that capture and exploit innovative opportunities.
• Stakeholder Management
Act as point of contact between the Director and other stakeholders as well as promote and maintain positive relationship between the Office of the Director and Stakeholders. Ensure timely and effective responses giving due regard to political and sensitive environment requiring astute consideration.
• Project Management
Co-ordinate the execution of strategic initiatives and undertake projects that support the achievement of the objectives of the Directors Office, Governing Body and Committees. Conduct research with regard to special projects relative to the Office of the Director, and implement best practices associated with the functionality and determining the appropriateness of specific policies/ procedures for implementation.
• Reporting
Provide reporting of information to Director, EXCO, Governing Body and other stakeholders. Ensure that all information is accurate and meets the requirements of relevant stakeholders.
• Risk and Compliance Management
Continuously monitor the Risk and Compliance levels in the Office of the Director. Keep the Director abreast of the progress with internal and external audits undertaken within the CCMA.
• Financial/Budget Management
Oversee effective management of budget in the Office of the Director to ensure that expenditure remains within budgetary constraints. Maintain compliance with administrative controls over funds, contracts and procurements, to preclude fraud or mismanagement of funds within budget.
• Strategic Engagement and Advisory
Develop presentations, journals and articles on behalf of the Director. Assist the Director in facilitating effective decision making relevant to the office of the Director. Assess enquiries directed to the office of the Director and channel them accordingly. Represent the Director at the appropriate forums, when requested, including Parliament, relevant Government Departments and in any other meetings. Provide strategic advisory to the Director.
• People Management
Foster employee commitment and loyalty through active engagement with individual team members. Create on-the-job opportunities which facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skill between employees.
 

Key Requirements
• Honours degree or equivalent qualifications in Social Sciences or Administration or Management or Law.
• A Masters’ degree would be an advantage.
• 8 to 10 years’ experience at Management Level preferable Senior Management.
