Appointment Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree/ B-Tech or equivalent in Environmental Management Systems/ SHERQ Management/ SHERQ in the Energy Sector
• 7 years’ experience in the industry of which 3 years are of supervisory level.
Added Advantage:
• Honours (NQF 8)
Professional Body:
• Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA) or
• South African Council for National Scientific Professions (SACNSP) or International Association for Impact Assessment South Africa (IAIAsa)
Primary Function:
• Responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of City Power and for developing, implementing, monitoring and review the environmental strategies that promote sustainable development within the organisation.

Primary Function:
• Responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of City Power and for developing, implementing, monitoring and review the environmental strategies that promote sustainable development within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain Environmental Policies and Systems.
• Develop an Emergency Preparedness Plan(BCP).
• Reduce environmental impacts and increase its operating efficiency Oversee the delivery of reduction strategies.
• Implement, facilitate and monitor environmental programmes
• Perform regular environmental audits and participate in 3rd party/external audits (SABS)
• Develop Environmental Impact/ Aspects Register and conduct Risk Assessments
• Generate reports and maintain permits as per the regulations
• Manage and review policy, framework, procedures, standards and protocol
• Perform environmental research and prepare research reports for management
• Review and recommend improvement strategies
• Participate and provide advice on Disaster Management Plan
• Efficient and effective management of budgets according to company regulation standards and procedures and in line with good corporate governance.
• Compliance to MFMA and other relevant pieces of legislation.
• Participate, guide and provide expert advice to staff, management and relevant stakeholders
• Liaise with various government institutions i.e. GDARD, Dept of Environmental Management etc.
