Task Grade 14
Purpose
To manage the implementation of effective relationships with organised labour and workplace discipline and grievance resolution.
Key responsibilities
• Ensure that the departmental plans are aligned with departmental strategy and that resources are allocated correctly in order to meet operational requirements
• Ensure the implementation, optimization and compliance to all policies and processes within City Power
• Provide cross-functional collaboration and support to enable maximum service delivery
• Implement effective management practices in order to develop high quality, skilled committed and flexible staff
• Ensure effective financial management of the division in compliance with relevant legislation and City Power Policies
• Actively manage contracts in your area in line with SCM policy
• Ensure effective project management in line with deliverables, timeframes and budget
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with external and internal service providers and customers.
• Oversee the development of sustainable employee and management relations, ensuring a harmonious working environment
• Managing and monitor all labour cases, dispute resolution at the CCMA, disciplinary processes, incapacity hearings etc.
• Provide assistance and advice to management on disciplinary and grievance related matters.
• Develop and manage a sustainable working relationship with organised labour and ensure compliance with all agreements and processes
• Develop and implement a relevant strike management process.
• Compile and submit relevant reports timeously.
• Research, develop and review policies and procedures for the employee relations environment
• Manage the implementation of ER policies across the business
• Represent City Power at external committees and forums

• The planning and resourcing of long-term work by senior management which involves how resources should be utilised in order to enhance the performance of City Power and its influences from the external environment.
• Must be able to provide a vision, set direction for the organisation and inspire others in order to deliver on the organisational mandate.

• The ability to exhibit courage and resilience when confronted with issues, opposition, ethical dilemmas or failures.
• The ability to demonstrate commitment to City Power’s core values and principles.

Functional Competencies
• Understands employment legislation, policies (including Union agreements, internal disciplinary and grievance procedures and rules); and provides strategic support on the handling of grievance procedures.
Minimum qualifications
• NQF7 - Bachelor's degree in HR or Labour Relations or Law
Related Minimum Experience
• 5 years’ experience, of which 3 years in junior management level.
• Provide assistance and advice to management on disciplinary and grievance related matters.
• Develop and manage a sustainable working relationship with organised labour and ensure compliance with all agreements and processes
• Develop and implement a relevant strike management process.
