City Power Johannesburg (SOC) Ltd is a municipal entity wholly owned by the City of Johannesburg. City Power commenced operations on 01 January 2001 and is responsible for electricity distribution within its area of supply in the City of Johannesburg. The Company provides services to a mix of approximately 3.2 million people. 
 
APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION: 
 
Designation - Manager: BI and Data Analytics (x1) 
Group - Metering Services 
Reporting to - General Manager: Smart Nerve Centre 
 
Purpose
Provide business insights and truth using business data and statistical methods and suggest areas and methods of improving business operations. Control and develop internal and external, information sources for business analysis and aid in the achievement of a smart utility by creating smart metering data. 
 
 
Key responsibilities 
• Define and implement the metering analytics framework in conjunction with ICT and Data & Process Management teams 
• Train business users so that they are able to correctly apply the analytics framework 
• Monitor the manner in which the analytics framework has been applied 
• Identify the mechanisms required to support all levels of metering analytics including: reporting, analysis, decision making, presentation and early warnings signals. 
• Facilitate business modelling in alignment with the strategic objectives of City Power. 
• Ensure that City Power fulfils its corporate governance requirements by providing performance information required by regulators, shareholders and the public.
• Provide the sustainable metering analytical model to enable City Power to consistently report on past performance, conduct predictive analytics, simulations, visualization, machine learning and instantaneous reporting 
• Report capability requirements to enable City Power to measure past and current performance. 
• Collaborate with the Chief Data Architect (ICT) to ensure that the Metering Data Strategies include the requirements for big data analytics. 
• Provide advice and guidance to Executive Management on metering data management issues 
• Investigate and recommend alternative automated solutions for those areas manual metering analytical procedures are used. 
• Monitor evolution of data models to meet new and changing business requirements with maximum efficiency 
• Define and implement a comprehensive set of policies, standards, procedures, templates and processes for requesting reporting, analytical and decision support information in reference to metering data for device purchasing, inventory management, installation and decommissioning, energy purchases and balancing, mock billing, revenue and collection analysis, meter reading and billing and customer behavioural patterns 
• Prepare and conduct audits to ensure that standards are applied. 
• Oversee the analysis of the City Power business strategy and performance results and identify new information requirements that may be of value to the business. 
• Monitor the results of the City Power business strategy and performance results analyses and confirm new information requirements that may be of value to the business. 
• Oversee the analytical process execution for metering purposes on a daily basis (pre-billing and post billing processes and adherence to the municipal by-laws) and diligently report on exceptions. 
• Understand and interpret shareholder expectations, performance measurements, relevant legislation, regulation and accountabilities and build them into management reporting, dashboards and models. New requirements and changes must be pre-empted and addressed timeously. 
• Oversee the analytical process execution for metering purposes on a daily basis (pre-billing and post billing processes and adherence to the municipal by-laws) and diligently report on exceptions

Minimum qualifications 
• B Com or BSC in Information Technology or Informatics 
 
Preferred Qualification Requirements: 
• BSC Honours 
 
Related Minimum Experience 
 5 year's experience, of which 3 years are in a supervisory capacity
