DESIGNATION: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
FIXED TERM CONTRACT : 5 YEARS
Appointment Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration or Commerce
• A minimum of 15 years in an organisation with at least 1,500 employees of which 5 years should be at an executive management level position with reporting responsibility to a Board of Directors or Municipal Council.
• Have proven successful institutional transformation within the public or private sector.
Added Advantage
• Post graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration or Commerce.
• 10 years’ experience in a management level position regulated by the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) or the Public Finance Management Act (PMFA).
• Multi-disciplinary functional experience.
Primary Function:
The CEO has the responsibility and authority for the effective leadership and financial management of the organisation to achieve a performance level in line with the vision, mission and objectives agreed with the Company’s Board and Shareholder Representatives with a particular emphasis on:
• pro-actively shaping the future of City Power by developing and implementing a vision and strategic direction to meet the requirements of the business today and that of tomorrow;
• creating an ethos of excellence and continuous improvement in the provision of the highest levels of customer service within a dynamic market environment whilst ensuring a strong culture of governance and compliance; and creating the environment necessary to ensure City Power’s financial and operational sustainability and results.
Key Responsibilities: The CEO is responsible for the Strategic and Functional Leadership and Direction of City Power through establishing, developing and directing the vision, mission and the strategic objectives of City Power such that they are in alignment with its strategic mandate as well as the statutory and regulatory requirements to meet and/or exceed the objectives as defined in the strategic mandate. The CEO is responsible for Functional Leadership and Direction of City Power by coordinating the mission critical functions while focusing on the more operational needs of the company. To ensure ROI and enable spend to be revenue generating and leading to satisfied customers and communities. To pull together the integrated operations value chain. The CEO influences operational excellence, which includes directing a step change in performance and securing the current and future mandate to operate City Power. Ensure that change management strategies are crafted, which continually drives City Power to embrace and transform toward market leading (best) practices using new concepts and technologies that add value to the greater strategic focus and organisational effectiveness of City Power. Reporting to the Board, the Exco and the other relevant governance structures on performance in respect of City Power; and Taking responsibility to codify and share best practices across City Power. The CEO must manage all of City Power resources to achieve the desired business performance. The CEO is responsible for Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Management of City Power.
