REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS (20 POSITIONS) FOR A SIX-MONTH PERIOD FROM 1 OCTOBER 2020 TO 31 MARCH 2021
The City of Tshwane provides comprehensive environmental health services to local communities and internal and external clients in order to promote, preserve and improve the health and environment of the community and of Tshwane as a city. This can be achieved by employing environmental health practitioners.
QUALIFYING CRITERIA
National Diploma: Environmental Health or equivalent qualification
Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an environmental health practitioner
A valid driving licence with own vehicle
Added advantage: Experience in municipal health services
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The environmental health practitioners are expected to work from Monday to Friday for eight hours per day within the scope of the following duties in order to ensure the implementation of an environmental health service according to policy and procedural directives:
Food control
Waste management
Chemical safety
Health surveillance of premises
Prevention of communicable diseases
Environmental pollution control
Disposal of the dead
Monitoring of water quality
Vector control
REMUNERATION: R32 025 per month.
The environmental health practitioners will be contracted through a City of Tshwane contract.
