HEAD: CLIMATE CHANGE & RESILIENCE
PERMANENT POSITION
DEPARTMENT: Environment & Infrastructure Service Department
BRANCH: Air Quality and Climate Change
DESIGNATION: Head: Climate Change & Resilience
REMUNERATION: R51 997.12 - R70 731.82 - R89 469.38 pm (basic salary excluding benefits)
LOCATION: 118 Jorissen Street, Traduna House, Braamfontein
Minimum Requirements:
• Degree / NQF level 7 in Environmental Science (with preferably Chemistry, Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Climatology).
• 8 years’ experience in Climate experience with 6 years in a middle to senior management level.
Primary Function: The job entails the development and implementation of the high-level climate change, policies, strategies, plans and programmes and to lead and direct the Climate function of the City.
Key Performance Areas:
• Lead and direct a clean development mechanism (CDM desk and report accordingly.
• Manage and oversee the process of leveraging resource (inside and outside city) in order to advance the development and implementation of the City’s Climate Change Policies, including the updates thereof, as and when required.
• Direct input into the compilation of management reports, so that stakeholders are informed of progress on performance including relevant other issues of the business unit / department.
Plan, monitor and control the unit annual operating and budget so that spending is in line with the municipal requirements and is complaint with the Municipal Financial Management Act.
• Observe, review, revise and facilitate implementation of the Climate Change Policy, including its future revisions.
• Implement the performance management policy and procedure of the city so that departmental and business unit objectives are met.
• Lead and direct staff within department so that be able to achieve objectives set for them.
