OPERATIONAL MANAGER (SENIOR SOCIAL WORKER)
PERMANENT POSITION
DEPARTMENT: Social Development
BRANCH: Social Benefits – Region B & F
DESIGNATION: Operational Manager (Senior Social Worker)
REMUNERATION: R28 456,44 pm (basic salary, excluding benefits)
LOCATION: Region B & F
Minimum Requirements:
• Matric certificate/Grade 12 plus a 4 -year Social Work Degree (NQF level 7);
• Must be registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions;
• 3 – 4 years’ experience as a Social Worker in a Local Government environment;
• Computer literacy;
• Must have a valid motor vehicle license.
Primary Function:
Operationalize and manage developmental and integrated social work services in any given community within CoJ, in line with approved policies, legislation and social work professional standards in order to respond to community needs, manage data, program plan and provide reports on work undertaken by subordinates. Quality assurance of reports and evidence submitted by subordinates, place stock orders and materials, coordination and submission of performance reports to manager, consolidation of staff development and training requests, ILP’s, Declarations of Interests, management of legislative, financial and compliance matters at operational level, follow-ups on tasks associated with managing operations, accountability and control.
Key Performance Areas:
• Undertake and provide effective administration to manage operations and address gaps in practices and procedures;
• Planning, organizing and monitoring the implementation of programs/projects for vulnerable groups in line with key performance indicators;
• Provide individual supervision on professional matters and manage performance gaps;
• Human Resource Management, Staff Development and Support;
• Maintain stakeholder relations, service directory and database.
Leading Competencies:
• Administration, presentation and report-writing;
• Verbal and written communication;
• Leadership, stakeholder/people management and mediation;
• Technologically savvy.
Core Competencies:
• Knowledge of Local Government mandate and associated legislation, strategic documents, policies/frameworks and procedures;
• Knowledge of Provincial and National Legislation impacting the profession;
• Stakeholder relations and management;
• Knowledge of CoJ communities, wards and current development issues/service gaps.
