SHORT TERM CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT - (STC)
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), Health Department has the following short-term contract opportunities for a period NOT exceeding twelve (12) months.
The details are as follows:
THESE POSITIONS ARE AIMED AT RE-ENFORCEMENT OF STAFFING LEVELS IN THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS:
• HPV and Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign
• Door–to-door Aids education and multi-sectoral collaboration
• Integrated substance abuse management
• Advanced midwifes projects
• Extended and mobile services
1. Department: Health Department
Branch: District Health Services
Designation: Professional Nurse
Salary Range: R27 864.81 pm (basic salary excluding benefits)
Appointment Requirements:
• Matric/Grade 12 (NQF level 4)
• Diploma or Degree in General Nursing (NQF Level 7),
• 3 years post basic experience.
• 1-year experience in working with multiple stakeholders and non-profit organisations
• SANC registration will be an added advantage
• Basic knowledge of interpersonal relations, and customer relations.
• Computer literacy and
• Driver’s license
• Midwifery/ Advanced Midwifery / Community Health Nursing / Psychiatric Nursing will be an added advantage.
Primary Function: Manage early detection and treatment and control of the health conditions in the community.
Key Performance Areas: Participate in the identification, design and delivery of health awareness campaigns at clinic and community level. To maintain and sustain acceptable administrative procedures and provide the relevant information for management to establish health trends, identify gaps and optimize planning in the delivery health care. Actively engage with various community groups to foster response to communicable and non-communicable diseases and other community needs. Provision of health education to learners and parents about the importance of immunisations. Conducting health assessments of learners according to the relevant policies and guidelines. Provision of immunisations including the School based immunizations (HPV, Tetanus Toxoid) and deworming of leaners. Participate in the Covid-19 vaccination programmes targeting the community. Manage and safeguard all relevant health records including consent forms where possible. Applies procedural nursing sequences with regards to the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, evaluation and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases. Participate in community focused awareness initiatives and personal development interventions through the dissemination of information on health issues and associated treatment application in order to ensure that objectives related to affordable, accessible and cost-effective health care are realized.
Leading Competencies: Health Information Management; Community Outreach, Health Promotion and Awareness and Financial Management.
Core Competencies: Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel); Good Communication and Coordination skills.
