MANAGER: URBAN AGRICULTURE
 
DEPARTMENT: Social Development 
BRANCH: Food Resilience 
DESIGNATION: Manager: Urban Agriculture 
REMUNERATION: R44 693,36 pm (basic salary, excluding benefits) 
LOCATION: Region C
 
Minimum Requirements: 
• Grade 12 plus an appropriate completed Degree in Agriculture/Development Studies/Social Sciences or equivalent from an accredited institution at NQF level 7; 
• 5 – 7 years relevant working experience in agricultural development or food security environment; 
• Knowledge and understanding of diverse agriculture value proposition and delivery strategy; 
• Project management experience; 
• Valid driver’s license. 
 
Primary Function:
Perform tasks associated with regional coordination and implementation of the urban agriculture and food security programmes such as food gardens, food bank, food empowerment zones, Agri-resource centres, Agri-business development services and skills development. Oversee the management and supervision of regional programme coordinators to ensure implementation of the established projects and programs. Submit quarterly regional performance reports and coordinate urban agriculture and food security stakeholders as well as identification and attraction of potential partners to assist the region in expanding the footprint of poverty alleviation projects.

• Manage established projects in line with food resilience policy and business plan; 
• Implement Urban Agriculture and Food Security Programs in line with SDBIP and IDP within a Region; 
• Business Planning, performance management and policy development;

• Monitoring and evaluation; 
• Internal and External stakeholder management; 
• Adherence to legislation, quality control, development of programme designs and Standard Operating Procedures for the Sub-Unit; 
• Forge partnerships, create opportunities, and leverage support both internally and externally.
